I used to play AoC when it was first released, and played til around level 30. I resubscribed recently and played for about a week (with my boyfriend on a free trial) and really loved it. Sadly I haven't had time to play the rest of my subscription because of work and other game commitments, but I'm really interested in getting back into what genuinely feels like a mature, fun MMO.

I have a few questions, though. First of all, is it possible to play AoC casually? I'm not sure how much time I can commit to it, and I want to play and enjoy the game, while still getting the benefits such as reaching level 80 and actually participating in dungeons etc, without having to play 24/7.

My other question is regarding class choices. I'm still feeling a little behind in classes. I used to play a Barbarian but recently took up Guardian to tank for my boyfriend. What are the support classes like in the game, and which would be best for supporting a Barb in casual play?

Is AOC worth playing now? Did they fix some bugs, add some raiding content, or just any general stuff to do after reaching level 40? I've noticed that no one has updated in almost two months, so does anyone still play this or did it die after all the hype?
I'm looking for something to play again and would much rather trying something new than go back to WoW.

And it's not going well. The auto patcher keeps crashing over and over and...
It will very slowly download about 50 megs then just crash. Also, it flashes every 15 seconds or so and stops downloading completely. Not sure what the issue is. WoW, EVE, NWN and COH/COV all work fine as do their patchers. Anyone have a similar experience? I tried reverifying the files and stuff nothing seems to work. Any advice would be great. I'd really prefer not to have to wait 30 hours to play the game...

Ok, so i just got to the point where i can use blighted ones. Im not on a pvp server so lets keep all pvp out of it for now.

Which pet should i use? blighted ones or corruptors. Ive got the feat where any target effected with worms receives extra dmg from corruptors atm, so will the dmg difference from the blighted ones vs. the corruptors with my feats be worth using blighted ones over corruptors?

Also, where should i put my skills? Im mostly using them in the one that helps me not get interrupted in my casting, but i have over 400 more that i need to place somewhere. Ive got some in hiding just in case i decided to do some pvp in those instances or whatever, still new so i cant really remember what they are called. But after that i just dont know.

And come to think about it... hiding in pvp is stupid with like... 10 minions surrounding you LOL!!!!!

Alrighty. I hope you guys can help me... I can't sign into the forums yet as I'm only about to buy the game. :)

Question 1. I use a Power Color HD 3870... According to the box, it's supposed to be equivalent to an ATI Radeon. Can I play Age of Conan with this setup?

Question 2. What class would work best for me? I've played a Hunter class in WoW, but I wouldn't mind trying out something simple to play or fun to manage like someone with cool armor. What classes would suit me?

So ive got the collectors edition... how do i get the items in game? Ive asked in chat but i dont know if its people not hearing me or if im just using the channel correctly. Id love to get a drinking cape and/or ring... however they are doing that.

And also... im loving the necromancer, brings me back to the days of diablo2... good thing they just annouced three.

Anyone else banned on the US forums? haha...

Quick question: Is anyone else experiencing difficulties since the patches today? Is there a fix for it?

I was floating along with an average of 30-35 fps (min 15, max 60), now I can't get above 7 and I've messed with every setting.

Yeah yeah, I'd post on the forums but a month later they still have not activated my forum account. (I've emailed about it too).

I also messed with some setting that I guess made all the sounds from my spells disappear. Anyone know which this is so I can fix it? It had to be a video setting, not sound (did not touch sound).

I just started reading about Age of Conan today after seeing it on a Best Buy shelf over the weekend, and I am definitely looking forward to buying the game.

So far all of the graphics I've seen look amazing, but it's hard to find screen caps on the internet.

If anybody has screen caps of your character, combat, anything... post them in the comments here. I really want to see more of what the toons look like in particular (and youtube is blocked at my job).

So the free trial month is now up -- anyone else not renewed their account?

I think AoC has a lot of potential, I just find myself very dissapointed with the current state of the game and have decided to leave it a month or two and see what they can fix before returning and giving it another try.

I wouldn't advise spending too much time on the official forums right now, unless you go equipped in full 'whine-proof gear' but for me personally, there was a great thread which started up regarding what players felt the 'magic' of the MMORPG medium was and more importantly how to regain that in a new game. Because my account is frozen, I can't reply to the thread anymore, which is a shame. :/

None of my characters are anywhere near 80, so it's not even end-game content or PvP content which is the deal-clincher as regards me cancelling. For me it's a multitude of strange design choices and complete lack of polish which has put me off the game... I'm actually envious of people who are still enjoying it.
