What is your second favorite team (inside the AL Central or not)? Adopted the Nats as my National League team. 5. Who are your 3-5 favorite players? Currently, Thome, Konerko, Dye, Church and Zimmerman6. What is your favorite baseball moment since 2000? No question here- World Series, Game 2, Pods walk off homer. My sis and I were up 10 rows from first base and it looked like that ball was in the park. The whole section was quiet until we realized it was out of there. Pure joy after that.7. What is your favorite baseball moment from the 90's? This just barely makes it: July 1, 1990, Yankees' pitcher Hawkins pitched a no-hitter, but the Sox still won on errors, 4-0 in the 8th inning. The 4-0 loss was the largest margin of a no-hitter loss in the 20th century, and Hawkins became the first Yankees pitcher to lose a no-hitter. The next year, MLB changed the definition of a no-hitter to require that a pitcher throw at least nine full innings and a complete game. Since Hawkins played for the visiting team in the game in question, the White Sox never batted in the ninth inning, Hawkins lost the credit for his achievement. My dad took me to that game. I remember my dad looking at me as the events of the 8th inning unfolded and saying, "Remember this, this game is going to mean something." He was right.8. What is your favorite baseball moment of all time? See above- just going to Sox games with my dad in general. My dad can't make it to the games now, bad hip, so my sis and I go. I come in once a month and we see a game, except for July when she flew out here and we saw them choke at Camden.9. Who is your favorite baseball player (that is retired)? Fisk.10. I remember that game got the Twins going and they ended up cruising to win the division. I can't remember the standings, but heading into that game, I think the Indians had the lead down to a game or two, and were trying to complete a weekend sweep on Sunday afternoon.7. What is your favorite baseball moment from the 90's? A Giants/Rockies weekend series at Mile High Stadium circa 1993*8. What is your favorite baseball moment of all time?* I was at the game when Bert Blyleven got his 3000th K and Kirby Puckett hit for the cycle on 8/1/86. That was pretty cool.9. I, on behalf of the Chicago White Sox, need a favor.Tadahito Iguchi is in third place amongst AL second basemen. Iguchi has been an excellent second baseman, and that isn't pure fandom on my part. From making superb plays at his position to moving the runner over when Scott Podsednik is on to blasting grand slams off of Brad Lidge over the left field fence, Tadahito is a great ballplayer.I am asking you to vote for him for second base in the American League.A brief defense of him, before anyone compares his numbers to those of others: he bats second in a lineup that emphasizes a mixture of "small ball" and power hitting. Our 3-4-5 leads baseball in homers and RBI, but we can still get it done without huge homeruns. Scott Podsednik gets on base, and it's Iguchi's job to move him over before anything else. He doesn't have the most RBI of second basemen or anything, but this is a case where the numbers mislead.That all said, his numbers, homer-wise and RBI wise, are nothing to scoff at. Please vote for Tadahito Iguchi when you're voting for the all-star game. And, if you haven't been voting or aren't, then get on it. Voting ends tomorrow. But, if you don't want to vote, please do, if for no other reason than to help Iguchi out. I'd appreciate it muchly. Remember, it's easy to pop in hundreds of ballots in a short amount of time, as after your first ballot, it saves your choices and then you can just click submit.As far as email addresses go, well, let's just say that you can put in whatever and still vote. What is your second favorite team (inside the AL Central or not)? - I've sort of adopted the Washington Nationals as my NL team, but I'm having a hard time bringing myself to care too much. I mean, the Tigers are in Lakeland RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND, you know?5. Who are your 3-5 favorite players? - Currently, Placido Polanco, Jeremy Bonderman and Dimitri "Meathook" Young6. What is your favorite baseball moment since 2000? - As a Tigers fan, I really am not sure how to answer this question... oh, I know, when they fired Randy Smith, how's that?7. A White Sox winner!!	[Oct. 27th, 2005\|12:59 am]al_central
[Current Mood \|content]I can honestly say I am very happy for the Chicago White Sox. I watched the Sox in person 3 times this season, twice in Chicago against Cleveland and Seattle, and then once in Detroit against the Tiggers. This team earned and deserved a World Series title. Now I should also mention that it pains me to say that a little, being a Cub fan growing up. However, I went to more White Sox games this year and in my lifetime than Cub games.(Mainly due to the fact that Wrigley is such a tourist attraction and that Cub fams are like the Nike swoosh, all of sudden, they're everywhere)Being from Chicago, I'm happy for the city. It's something they can be proud of. It's also a big nah nah to the big spenders in baseball. The AL Central has got to be one of the lowest in payroll of the six in the majors. The Sox went through Boston and Anaheim and truth be told, the Yankees wouldn't have taken a game off of them. I've talked to some Yankee fans, they were happy not to see the Sox in the first round.So here's to the Sox. MLB Champs for 2005!
