The purpose of this paper is to bring to light the importance of teaching ethics in high school j... more The purpose of this paper is to bring to light the importance of teaching ethics in high school journalism courses, specifically in a Yearbook class. Student journalists taught to make socially responsible and ethical decisions can avoid issues associated with legal mistakes and, in turn, produce material that will increase their credibility that carries over into collegiate writing and future journalism careers. This research was conducted with a group of high school Yearbook staff students ranging in ages from 15-18 years old with 12 being female and 5 being male.
