Jason Reitman’s ‘Labor Day’ Coming Christmas Day Posted on Monday, May 20th, 2013 by Germain Lussier
Briefly: Good news for anyone anticipating Jason Reitman‘s latest film, Labor Day. Paramount has enough confidence in it to give the film a date primed for awards consideration. Labor Day will be released Christmas Day, expand on January 10 then go wide January 31.
Labor Day Gattlin Griffith as a young boy whose life is turned upside down when his single mother (Kate Winslet) aids an escaped convict (Josh Brolin). Reitman adapted the screenplay from a Joyce Maynard novel and it co-stars Tobey Maguire, J.K. Simmons and James Van Der Beek.

Some actors seem born to stardom, their destiny somehow written in the stars. Tobey Maguire would be the first to admit he was not.
Left to his own devices, he’d have been a chef, except that his mother (who gave birth to him aged 18) famously offered him $100 (£60) to try acting instead of a cooking class. Fast forward more than 25 years and Maguire, now 37, is recognised worldwide, thanks in particular to the Spider-Man trilogy (2002-2007), which made him both wealthy and a bona fide movie star.

‘The Great Gatsby’ follows F. Lead by Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, ‘The Great Gatsby’ also stars Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Joel Edgerton and Carey Mulligan as Tom and Daisy Buchanan, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke as Myrtle and George Wilson, newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker, and Indian film legend Amitabh Bachchan as Meyer Wolfsheim. ‘The Great Gatsby’ arrives in cinemas on May 10th in the US and Canada, with an international rollout on May 15th (May 16th in the UK).

Hugh Humphreys May 2, 2013
Moviehole’s reporter Hugh Humphreys was lucky enough to spend some time on the set of “The Great Gatsby” while it was filming at Fox Studios in Sydney at the end of 2011, and now with the film just a couple of weeks away from release, he’s finally allowed to tell everyone what was going on!
Over the next few days we will be unveiling more interviews conducted on the set of “The Great Gatsby” – we hope you keep an eye out.
Our first is an interview with Tobey Maguire, who plays the part of Nick Carroway, the novel’s narrator. We spoke just after he had shot part of the excessive party scene shown in the trailer at Jay Gatsby’s mansion.

Kristen Wiig and Tobey Maguire join 'The Spoils of Babylon'

Kristen Wiig ("Bridesmaids") and Tobey Maguire ("The Great Gatsby") have signed on to play the lead roles in "The Spoils of Babylon," six half-hour episodes that will air later in 2013.
IFC describes the episodes below:
“The Spoils of Babylon” is an epic story in the vein of “The Thorn Birds” and “Winds of War,” “The Spoils of Babylon” spans three generations, taking viewers from the oil fields of Texas to boardrooms in New York City, through world war battlefields and velvet sheeted bedrooms. As the story unfolds, the booze, the passion and the heartache lead to illegal arms deals and international espionage with the Shah of Iran not to mention the creation of the doomed sub-prime market.
“The Spoils of Babylon” is a television adaptation of a best-selling epic novel by fictional famous author Eric Jonrosh (played by Will Ferrell). The blowsy century-spanning saga chronicles the sexy and dramatic lives of a family who made their fortune in the oil business.
Andrew Steele will be writing the screenplay to be directed by Matt Piedmont ("Casa de mi Padre").
