need help! Hi everyone, I am new obviously. I have an audition soon for the Integrated Musical Theatre part and I need some major help. Can some of you who went there or are going there tell me what it is like please. And can anyone please give me some ideas and pointers on what my monologue should be about or which one would be best to choose and which song from a musical I should do. I'm freaking out i'm so nervous. And don't have any clue what I am going to do. Please help! Thanks soo much!
I can't decide which campus I want to go to so ideas on that would be helpful. And info about the dorms and how to get a job between school and everything else. Where should I work and how does all that work.

Things to bring Hey all, we really need to start talking more!! Anyways, as you know the fall semester starts next month and I am at a loss trying to figure what is essential to bring and what not to. I know space is very limited in the NYC dorms. So if any of you could give advice to what is crucial. Thanks so much!

I got my acceptance letter on Monday for the summer semester in NYC and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about financial aid, loans and all that. I'm honestly at quite a loss as how to go about finding financial aid, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hey, I have a question for any students at the NY campus: I'm at the LA campus right now going into 2nd semester. I find that i am very isolated and trapped in Hollywood, because i don't have a car, and the transportation systems here are horrid! I also find that Hollywood is very dirty, seedy and very un-cultural. I was considering transferring to the NY campus, and i was wondering if the city was any more accessible for pedestrians, and any more diverse/culture-esque. This is what I've heard anyhow. I would appreciate any input, or comments as to your own experiences as a student in NYC!
Thanks so much!

Housing and lifestyle So I am applying to AMDA, almost done I keep procrastinating on my essays and I visited over the summer. When I saw the student housing I wasn't shocked but my mother was. Figures, I think that the housing was fine considering its in New York City, but I can't really know unless I get feedback from a real student. How is the housing, and is it good for the students?? Love AMDA cannot wait to go if all things work out! *crossing fingers* So let me know! Thanks!!

Hazing Hello, we are two students at Rochester Institute of Technology currently engaged in an independent study project addressing the issue of hazing. The goal of this project is two-pronged - we wish to discover the prevalence of hazing in the state as well as get your opinion on what should be done about it, if anything.
Under the lj-cut is our survey, which asks a variety of questions about your personal experiences with hazing, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a minute or two from your time to fill it out really quickly. We even have questions at the beginning for those who have never experienced hazing but wish to share their opinion on the subject. Additionally, each question gives you the option to answer in more detail beyond the choices we have already provided. We encourage you to take advantage of this if you have more include in your answer.
Your responses to this survey are anonymous, so please do not put your name (or any information that would identify you) anywhere on this survey. You may quit the survey at any time and for any reason, or you may decline to answer any of the questions, but your responses to every question are important and we ask that you answer as many of the questions as you possibly can. You may post your answers however you like - under your user name, anonymously, or you may e-mail them to us at hazing.survey@gmail.com. All posts will be screened, so no one except you, us, and the community administrator will be able to see your responses.
Please inform us of any questions, concerns, or feedback you might have. Thank you in advance for your time.

Hollywood Feature Film Mounts Nationwide Acting Contest! DEAD GIRLS CLUB.COM is the headquarters for the major Hollywood feature film set for filming this coming spring. At the website, they are in the process of searching for a young actress and actor ages 15-mid 20's who can play a high school senior. The winner will be flown with a guest to Los Angeles to film their role in the movie.
The secret to this competition is that America will be picking the young actor and actress from entries posted on the website in March. So your chances of getting a featured role in the film will be determined by the number of entries. There will be national exposure that will be increasing through each of the legs of the competition.
Since all of America will be judging the competition, the deadgirlsclub community is the place for competitors in the SCREAM QUEEN & KING acting competition to promote themselves and place their video clips. We will also be the unofficial clearing house for all-things "Dead Girls", so from time-to-time, we'll have inside info (the filmmakers are friends of mine), so keep your eyes here, and take part!
Come on and get pledged to The deadgirlsclub!

Hey guys. I don't go to AMDA yet, but I really want to. I am going to college next year and I was thinking of auditioning next year for the '07-'08 year. Anyway, I have 2 questions for you guys who go there:
1.) Do you really feel like you're prepared to go out and be successful after going to AMDA, or if you still go there, do you think you will feel prepared?
2.) Someone told me that you guys have a ton of sheet music at your school and that you might have the sheet music for Bare: A Pop Opera, specifically the song All Grown Up. If anyone does have it or knows where to get it, I would be so grateful.
Anyway, thanks for your time and I hope you all have a safe and happy new year.

um...hey. i just joined this community because i was just accepted at the AMDA LA campus...so, i'm really stoked and i really wanted to tell someone, but my friend finds out if she got in to Occidental tomorrow, and I don't want to steal her thunder...so I figured I'd tell a bunch of strangers who I don't know.
anyway, I kind of wanted to ask what everyone thinks of the school...is it what you thought it would be? do you feel like it's really prepared you for what you want to do? would you rather have gone to somewhere like UCLA or a four year private school? if you could let me know your thoughts (especially about the LA campus) I would really appreciate it.
thanks!

Hey guys, I'm starting 3rd semester after taking the summer off, and it dawned on me today that I totally haven't done any of the dance combos for a really long time. Can any of you guys who've done 3rd semester tell me how much we use these? Especially the crap from theater dance.
See you all really soon!

Hey Guys.... Everyone who attends AMDA and likes it go here
www.livejournal.com/community/broadway.
There are people there talking about the best performing arts schools in the country.
They're saying AMDA should be called "SCAMDA" and "avoid it at all costs" and it has such a "bad reputation."
I replied with a comment, but I would really like it for the people that go/study and perform there now to give these people some insight because it really rubbed me the wrong way and pissed me off.
Thanks.

*Well Kids... I've been counting down and for anyone going into the Integrated Program in New York City there's exactly 26 days left till school stars.
I'm so excited and scared. Optimistic and nervous. Mixed emotions and feelings all around.
I'm going to be training at a school learning about everything i've been working for since I was a child. Pursuing my dream. Developing and nurturing my craft. For once in my life i'm actually HAPPY about the phrase "back to school." :-)
I cannot wait to meet all of you. I can't wait to see all the shows i've been dying to see for quite sometime now.
I can't wait to meet my new teachers and coaches. The new people in my life who are going to be guiding me with my career for the next 2 years.
I hope that I am good enough, because I'm going into this willing to work wholeheartedly.
I'm still really scared though, this isn't po-dunk Iowa, it is the big time, it IS New York City.
I'm going to be performing/training with some really talented artists and I only hope that I can measure up. Yet, I have to try not to be too intimidated, I have to have confidence in myself and focus on myself and my performances.
Oh and finally ONE last question. During the week meaning Mon-Fri. do we ever have those days like regular college kids that have two classes for the day and then they're done? Not that I care because i'm there first and foremost to work and perform my ass off, but I was just wondering if we had days where we had like Ballet/Voice----Free. Probably not, but i'm asking anyway lol.
Good Luck to everyone.

~Another Question My Friends~ Random question, but I just wanted to know if any of you have established really amazing relationships with specific teachers/trainers?
As a performer personally I just think that's really important that you develop a great relationship with certain teachers and it makes the experience that much more special.
I'm weird, just let me know. :-)
