Compounds 4 (a-l) with hydrazine hydrate in glacial acetic acid furnishe the intermediate acetyl hydrazone of 4(a-l) which on cycloisomerisation under reaction conditions give 1,8-diaryl-4,8-dihydro-1-acetylpyrazolo[3,4-c]imidazol-2-thiones 5(al). On glycosylation with 1,2,3,5-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-furanose in presence p-toluene sulfonic acid under microwave irradiation followed by deacetylation with NaOMe / MeOH compounds 5 (a-l) yields, 1,8-diaryl-3(β-D-ribofuranosyl)-4,8-dihydro-1acetyl[3,4-c]imidazol-2-thione 6(a-l).

The fields of combinatorial and automated medicinal chemistry have emerged to meet the increasing requirement of new compounds for drug discovery. Microwave-assisted organic synthesis is an enabling technology for accelerating drug discovery and development processes. In the family of heterocyclic compounds nitrogen containing heterocycles are an important class of compounds in the medicinal chemistry and also contributed to the society from biological and industrial point which helps to understand life processes. Thiosemicarbazide belongs to thiourea group, whose biological activity is due to the presence of aldehyde or ketone moiety. Thiosemicarbazide derivatives exhibit a great variety of biological activities, such as antitumor, antifungal , antibacterial , and antiviral. Here we developed a, novel, solvent free, microwave assisted synthesis of hitherto unknown 5-subtituted-2aryl benzalamino-1, 3, 4thiadiazole 4a-h with excellent yield.

The literature reveals that anticancer and antimicrobial properties of imidazole were associated with substitutions at 1 position. Due to the growing awareness about environmental pollution and environmental legislation, recent years have witnessed a phenomenal increase in the application of microwave irradiation (MW) in organic synthesis. Use of mineral supported reagent assisted by microwave irradiation under solvent-free condition provides environmentally benign protocol with additional advantages such as enhanced reaction rate, higher yields of pure product, easier workup, better selectivity, improved ease of manipulation, rapid optimization of reactions in parallel which fulfil basic principles of green chemistry. Encouraged by above reports and as part of our research programme for development of eco-friendly synthetic protocol for biologically active compounds as well as in pursuing of our work on new solvent-free cyclisation process we developed a novel K-10 clay catalysed, MW activated synthesis of 2-thioxoimidazole-4-one N-nucleosides. Interestingly it is the first example of microwave induced synthesis of 2-Thioxoimidazole-4-one N-nucleosides. The key element in our approach is the utilization of α-haloacid as a bifunctional building block whose application to the construction of various heterocycles of chemical and biological interest is well documented. Transformation of ribosyl/deoxyribosyl thiourea under reaction conditions into isothiocyanate followed by nucleophilic addition of aryl amine on isothiocyanate generated aryl substituted ribosyl/deoxyribosyl thiourea which in turn underwent cyclocondensation with bifunctional α-halo acid through a dipolar complex to yield 2-thioxoimidazole-4-one Nnucleosides.

The importance of benzimidazole compound arises, because they are found in many biologically active compounds. Recently, several methods have been developed, for the synthesis of benzimidazole derivative like use of catalyst such as sulphur, ultrasonic, Lewis acids like pyridinium-p-toluenesulfonate, ionic liquids like polyaniline-sulfate and Zeolite. But, all of this reported method has several disadvantages such as, use of organic solvents, harsh reaction conditions, prolonged reaction times, use of expensive reagents. To overcome all these disadvantages here we report a practical, inexpensive and green method for the synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives under solvent free-condition.This growth of green chemistry holds significant potential for a reduction of the byproduct & waste production and a lowering of the energy costs. The one pot condensation of ophenylenediamine 1 with substituted/ unsubstituted thiourea 2 under microwave irradiation in solvent-free condition gave substituted/ unsubstituted benzimidazole-2-thione derivative 3a-g with excellent yield is described here.

Compounds 4 (a-l) with hydrazine hydrate in glacial acetic acid furnishe the intermediate acetyl hydrazone of 4(a-l) which on cycloisomerisation under reaction conditions give 1,8-diaryl-4,8-dihydro-1-acetylpyrazolo(3,4-c)imidazol-2-thiones 5(a- l). On glycosylation with 1,2,3,5-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-furanose in presence p-toluene sulfonic acid under microwave irradiation followed by deacetylation with NaOMe / MeOH compounds 5 (a-l) yields, 1,8-diaryl-3(β-D-ribofuranosyl)-4,8-dihydro-1- acetyl(3,4-c)imidazol-2-thione 6(a-l).

Oral cysticercosis is a rare condition and is challenging to diagnose. We present a case of masseter cysticercosis in a young woman who presented with painful recurrent cheek swelling. Diagnosis confirmed it after neuroimaging and histopathological examination of the excised lesion from masseter muscle.
