Due to rapid growth in population, economic and improved standard of living styles are increased ... more Due to rapid growth in population, economic and improved standard of living styles are increased solid waste generation in Kadugodi Ward. Management of these huge quantities of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) has become a serious concern for government departments, environmental protection agencies, regulatory bodies and general public at large context. The present study area is observed to have improper disposal system of Solid Waste Management (SWM). All the waste generated from this region is comprises of domestic waste, industrial waste, construction waste and other degradable and non-degradable solid waste, which are need to be effectively disposed. Proper sorting at the waste generation point for recovery of reusable materials, recyclable materials and compostable materials will help to improve the municipal solid waste management practices in Kadugodi Ward. The present study is going to evaluate the condition of existing SWM system, identify the lacks, implementation of effective disposal management system and waste to energy conversion (anaerobic digestion and combustion) according to present scenario. Design of effective SWM system will helpful to reduce the waste volume sent to landfills, increases the awareness on waste, improve the Biogas formation by anaerobic digestion of organic materials and minimize the environmental impact and provide nutrient rich organic fertilizer.
