Amazon.com : Sunny Health & Fitness Treadpad Flat Folding Treadmill with Premium Sound System – SF-T7970 : Sports & Outdoors (original) (raw)

I just want to start this off by saying this is a first impressions review - I’ve only had this treadmill for a week now, but will try to remind myself to update this after a month or so of use… that is, if I’m still using this machine as intended and NOT a clothes rack. Here’s hoping!

Like many others, my early quarantine experience consisted of Zoom meetings, hours of Animal Crossing and eating just about everything in sight. 3 months later, I’m still doing the same thing only 15lbs heavier (yikes right?)

I live in NY but currently have been locked down in SoCal, and I’m used to walking at least 3 miles every day just to get around. The area I’ve been staying unfortunately isn’t very walkable, so I thought purchasing exercise equipment would be a good investment considering I don’t plan on going to a gym for while.

Space is limited in this apartment, so form factor was my biggest criteria in deciding on a machine. This treadmill checked all the boxes in that it’s super compact and can fit under a bed or sofa, however it is HEAVY. Trust me, it was not fun carrying this up a flight of stairs — so you’ll definitely need a friend if you're in a similar living situation. The wheels help, but you have to lift the treadmill up from the back to roll it around which isn’t worth the hassle in my opinion, so I have it stationed in one spot of the room and don’t intend on moving it frequently.

The machine itself is super sleek looking and didn’t need much assembly aside from sticking 2 knobs to lock the rail. One thing you must do is lubricate the treadmill before you use it - a small 20ml bottle is included but I ended up buying a bottle of Spot On on amazon, which has a better applicator. Sunny Health & Fitness has a tutorial on Youtube if you need help with that.

The tablet/phone slot on the handrail is useful, but like others have said if you plan to use the Sunny Heath & Fitness app instead of the remote, it’s not great… at all. The UI is super confusing, so I’ve been using the remote and it’s not as bad as I expected it to be. Sunny Health & Fitness - please please PLEASE consider working with better designers and developers to improve your app! It’s a HUGE fail.

The speaker work well (kind of looks like Beats lol), but the only annoying thing is the beeps from the remote control are insanely loud and I’m not sure if you can adjust it.

My final thought is about cost. Currently, the price of the treadmill sits at 599,whichIthoughtwasprettyreasonableandwastheonlycompacttreadmillwithPrimeshippingavailableatthetimeofpurchase.However,anewcompactmodelbyabrandcalledLINKLIFEpoppedupinmyrecommendationsfor599, which I thought was pretty reasonable and was the only compact treadmill with Prime shipping available at the time of purchase. However, a new compact model by a brand called LINKLIFE popped up in my recommendations for 599,whichIthoughtwasprettyreasonableandwastheonlycompacttreadmillwithPrimeshippingavailableatthetimeofpurchase.However,anewcompactmodelbyabrandcalledLINKLIFEpoppedupinmyrecommendationsfor399 recently and looks fairly similar. I probably would’ve given that one a shot to save some money had I seen it earlier. But the plus on this treadmill is it goes up to 7.5mph, where most compact ones only go up to 6.5mph (yes, that 1mph does make a difference!)

TL;DR: Great space saving machine, but consider other compact treadmills if you're hesitant about cost.
