Love the pan. Silicon handle is worthless

Love the pan. Silicon handle is worthless

This van works great! So far I have been able to cook everything I want in it no problem. it came preseasoned it is way better already. I can have it cleaned up faster than my old ceramic pans.A few people mentioned what they thought was a defect from the factory. Lodge says it's a result of their preseason process. I've had mine a few weeks and mine is still there. This does not bother me. I received also had a small casting defect in the loop opposite the handle. This also does not bother me.The silicon sleeve/grip is absolutely worthless. It does not fit tightly on the handle and does not provide positive grip. I absolutely expect someone to drop the pan or have it flip over on them when trying to use the silicon sleeve.Walmart also sells these pans in various sizes without the silicon grip for less money. If you're interested in one of these, swing by and check them out. Then you can buy whatever you want without risk of getting something you did not expect.

The cast iron skillet has proven to be a kitchen staple with numerous advantages. It excels in evenly distributing heat, ensuring that every dish cooked in it comes out perfectly. Cleaning is a breeze, especially if done promptly after use. With proper care, it can literally last a lifetime, making it an outstanding value. The inclusion of silicone handle covers adds both convenience and safety to the package, enhancing its overall appeal. With a well-balanced size, it suits the needs of a family of three splendidly. However, it's worth noting that maintaining its seasoning can be a bit of a chore, as it needs to be re-seasoned after each use. Use a good quality oil and wipe the pan down. In humid climates, extra precautions are necessary, like storing it with a paper towel to absorb moisture and prevent rust. Despite these minor drawbacks, the cast iron skillet is a durable and versatile kitchen tool that any home cook would appreciate.

My niece used this to make a chocolate chip banana bread and it was delicious and moist. You can use the skillet in the oven or on the stove.

I got these because I wanted to stop using Teflon and was concerned about food safety. I didn’t use them very much at first because they were very heavy and frankly didn’t really know how to season or maintain them. However, after watching some seasoning videos, I feel like I have a new hobby. There is something about creating your own seasoning on these that add a personal touch to the cook ware and make you feel good when you watch stuff come off them with little to no stick. I like making omelettes on these because it cooks the eggs slowly. I tend to leave a mess when I flip omelettes but these cook more of the egg on top with out burning the bottom. I noticed a difference with using these for making pizza crust in the oven. I clean my pan by using a non abrasive sponge, water, wiping them dry, heating them in the stove to make sure they are super dry and oiling them. Seems to work to prevent rust and keeping it non stick. A little more work than normal nonstick but some people use theirs often enough that they don’t even wash them everyday and just wipe them. Sound gross you say? But apparently heating these to 300 degrees kills all the germs.

Cons: they are heavy. So maneuvering and washing these are kind of a hassle.the handle is short and get super hot which can make taking them out of the oven kind of dangerous and difficult for a small wristed person with no upper body strength. I would try carbon steel if you think this will be a big issue, but otherwise I would recommend these for someone who doesn’t might the weight and is looking for durable, Versatile, non stick cookware for a relatively cheap price who doesn’t might heating and oiling these after use.

This is my absolutely favorite skillet. Good for frying/grilling. You can fry an egg and it won't stick at all. Price is good. Hand wash it normally with warm water, dont use too much soap then put it in the stove to dry, then oil it inside and outside, back to the stove a good minute and do not put away! Let it get cool overnight. It will not rust if you do this every time. If no time to do it. Wash it next day but you must oil it again in the heat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Buy This

I had become increasingly disillusioned with the world of frying pans. Non-stick pans don't stay non-stick for long, and it was getting hard not to worry that me and my family were eating a little of that smooth, shiny and rather toxic coating each day along with our breakfast. The non-toxic ceramic alternatives promised much but were expensive and didn't really deliver. I love enamelled pans but they are a pain to clean after frying.

Enter the cast-iron pan. My new true love. You WILL NOT BELIEVE how absolutely excellent and genuinely non-stick they are. I am converted. Husband is converted. And the children had better be converted too, because they will be inheriting them in good-as-new condition.

The one drawback with these pans is that they are rather heavy. If you enjoy flipping pancakes one-handed and are not particularly muscular in the wrists, you might be frustrated by their weight. But if (like me) you have an induction cooker, the weight is an advantage, as they don't slide around the hob like lightweight pans do.

Why on earth does absolutely everybody not use cast-iron pans? I imagine capitalism has something to do with it.

Political speculation aside: buy one of these and you absolutely won't regret it.

Once you know how to care for pre-seasoned cast iron pans to maintain them, Lodge cast iron skillets are our kitchen go-to almost every time.

We soon got used to cooking on cast iron. Knowing it is the best conductor of heat, cooking becomes cheaper because these skillets require far lower temperatures to cook, hence are highly economical.

After use, scrubbing away bits while following cleaning instructions means this skillet could cook virtually anything. The secret is learning how to respect cooking in cast iron so that their iron never rusts.

This Lodge pan becomes easy care. It is incredibly durable, versatile (once you know how!) and has quickly become our very favourite skillet. Lodge's website also gives easy care instructions plus recipes. They were very helpful to us.

Nothing less than 5 Stars. Very definitely recommended.
