Absolutely my favorite book on this subject so far
I bought this for myself at Christmas and it is absolutely fantastic. I do have a better than average understanding of plants and herbs and foraging but although a lot of the reviews say it is only good for a beginner I completely disagree. This would be not the best book for someone without a basic knowledge of what plants are. However if you can Google you can figure out where and how to identify each plant so really that is just a matter of common sense. But the thing I really really like about this book is the very comprehensive recipes for the plants...usually more than one; for different purposes. The books I have read previous to this may have been more wordy and heavy on the background and plant variety etc but most don't include good recipes to be able to apply them to your life. Knowledge without application is fruitless. This book is going to get a lot of use from me.

The book itself is great. Lots of information and good pictures of the herbs. Also great recipes and gives dosages for different ages. As a beginner it's extremely informative.
This particular book also came in excellent condition. Looks brand new, even though I know its been read by others. There is a sticker on the front saying it came from a public library.
Absolutely would by from this place again.

a lot of these types of books always seem to be impractical but this one has some very practical uses. Most of the items in the book I can find or can gain access to or plant. most of the things to make in here are pretty easy with ingredients that can be bought in a store of health food store.

The perfect combination of herbalist traditions!

This book would be perfect for the beginner herbalist, though there is still much to offer more advanced wild crafters as well! The author does a wonderful job of combining traditional knowledge and folk traditions with scientific studies in her easy-to-read herbal monographs. She really covers all the bases - identification, history of use, contemporary uses, and easy to follow recipes. But it doesn't read like a dry identification book; her casual writing style and personality make it feel like you're having a conversation with your favorite herbalist. I read the book cover-to-cover in one sitting, thoroughly enjoying both the details and the tone. If you're intimidated by making your own herbal medicines out of plants in your own backyard, start here. Devon will give you the confidence and guidance and soon you'll be on your way to an herbal medicine cabinet full of natural options! This will definitely become my go-to source to learn about herbal medicine. I'm so glad I ordered a few extra copies to give as gifts!

I loved this book from the moment I received it. When I flipped through and saw all the writing I knew this wasn't just a book full of recipes, it's a book full of herbal information. There is information for almost 50 herbs plus recipes for using them.
The background information on each herb is very thorough and includes preparation guidelines, safety and precaution information, and even how to identify and grow the herb. Each herb has an accompanying recipe that shows you how to use effectively use that herb. This book will make a great addition to any herbalist's reading list.
