Easy to use but too small. Plastic smell.

Easy to use but too small. Plastic smell.

I used it for few months, it's very easy to use, compact in size.I bought this one because the compact size for 2 people. However, it's too small. I can only put tiny portion of food. Sometimes, I have to cooked a dish separately. The tray doesn't fit to the machine at all, with a tiny gap. The quality is so-so.The first few times I used with quite strong plastic smell, I am wondering if the plastic casing is save for high temperature cooking.Overall it did the job of fast cooking but I didn't use much.

Wasn’t sure if we’d use it so opted for the tower model at bargain price, great with small items like salmon, Burgers, French Fries and stuffed peppers. Not had oven on that much which has got to be a good thin. Going to try skewers next as I said not ideal for family but does the job for couple or single person but great to start with. Easy to use turn the timer and your away. Good quality for price.

Bought this for camping as we needed a litter power one. This does everything we need but the times are longer than our home one and the circulation of hot air is not great if you overload the basket. The capacity is enough for 2 but no more I would say. The quality seems good and the treat separates for cleaning.

This is a very small air fryer, but it's useful for one person. So far I have used it to cook nuggets, fish fingers, broccoli and sweet potato fries. The broccoli turns out amazing, really crispy and tender and tastier than when it's done in the oven, but you have to be careful not to cut it up too small or it burns too fast. Also I've found it does need oil on it otherwise it gets too dry. My first attempt at sweet potato fries wasn't brilliant - they came out cooked but not crispy but I've read sprinkling cornflour on them can help so will try that.

Overall it seems to cook things much quicker than the oven which is really convenient. I kind of wish I had bought a slightly bigger one so I could fit an entire meal in it, but I will probably get a bigger one too someday. But it's great if, say you want a fish finger sandwich for lunch but don't want to put the oven on just for two or three fish fingers. I'm sure it will save us money.

I am so pleased with the fryer because it is so easy to use. I have just cooked two small lamb chops and some frozen roast potatoes in half an hour. I set it on 160 degrees for twenty minutes for the chops and I could have ate them but I decided to leave them in and added a few frozen roast potatoes to the pan and cooked for another ten minutes and they were perfect. The instruction state twenty minutes on 180 degrees but I didn't want to risk them burning. I will try cooking chops on the 180 degree Setting for twenty minutes next time and keep my eye on them. I like the way the fat drains out into the tray underneath the pan. The fryer is so easy to clean. I just wipe away any fat when it is cooled with a paper kitchen towel and then wash the pan and basket in soapy water as it says in the instructions. People have complained about the clip on the tray being a bit stiff but it is just a matter of getting use to having to press it down to unlatch it. You have to just hold the appliance still with one hand and pull the handle while pressing down the latch at the same time. The size of the fryer is enough for a single person and it won't be as expensive to run as a larger fryer would be. I would buy a bigger fryer in the range to cook for more people. My old air fryer was a bit expensive to run and was a bit too big for me being alone. so I am pleased with this smaller fryer. I think it will cook a descent portion of chips for one person ok. I found the pan and tray is lighter for me to lift in and out of the fryer as I am now suffering from aches and pains in my hands and fingers. This will make cooking and heating-up food much easier and quicker and make cleaning-up a doddle.

The air fryer has changed my life. Before I had to use the oven which meant bending down to put things in and take things out. Now, with the air fryer sitting neatly on the work surface I don't have to bend any more and no more bad back, it's a winner! Not to mention how much better food tastes and is less greasy. And it uses less electricity than the oven which had to be pre heated. I've tried most foods in the air fryer with success but as yet have not tried making a sponge cake in it. Brilliant invention.

What I like: this is a fairly compact device. It's definitely smaller than a stove top chip pan and there is the huge advantage that you don't need to pour 2 litres of oil into it. Also there is no oil to get stale, and cleaning and washing it is as easy as could be. It has a reasonable mechanical timer and easily adjustable temperature dial that goes up to 200 C, which is plenty. It heats up very fast, so preheating it takes two or three minutes instead of the 10 or 15 of an oven.

What I don't like: food cooked in an air fryer is not as delicious as deep fried food. It's also not as nice as oven baked food. Nor is it as nice as grilled food. With frying you obviously get that fantastic combination of captured flavour and crispy outer and well cooked centre. Oven cooking or grilling allow the food to really fill with flavour from its own moisture or juices. None of this happens with air frying. You definitely can get a nice crisp outer, and a good texture, but the flavour just isn't there. Now I know why air fryer recipes are packed with different types of salts and spices and oil based marinades or sauces. It's to disguise the loss of the essential flavours that you get with oven cooking or frying. Where a sprinkle of salt used to be all that was required, now you need complex mixtures of salt, paprika, pepper, flavourful oils, chilli powder, garlic powder, onion powder - all to disguise the fact that when you cook food with hot air on a ventilated basket you lose much of the natural flavour!

In the last couple of days since receiving the air fryer I've cooked cubed aubergines, spiced tofu, oven chips, made "roasted" spicy mixed nuts, and heated up pre-prepared stuff from the supermarket that would usually be done in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 C. It's all been OK but definitely not as good as using the oven or a fryer, though obviously much more convenient than a fryer. I was mostly interested in being able to use this for some recipes that require deep frying various items before letting them soak up more flavour in a simmering sauce, but I think it's not quite up to it due to the blandness it seems to impose. It's not terrible. The textures of cooked items are really good but there just isn't the same flavour even as traditional baking in an oven dish, or grilling on a grill pan with a bit of foil.

I think this might be one for the charity shop.

edit: a few weeks later. These things shouldn't be called air fryers. They are reheating and baking devices. And the extremely high airflow is very drying, so they are not quite like normal baking. I've found that an air fryer is excellent at reheating and at heating up pre-prepared food. It is fabulous for some kinds of baking i.e. for making baked potatoes. It's good for cooking oven chips and similar so long as you ignore the manufacturer's instructions and do use some oil otherwise everything turns out too dry. But for cooking from raw ingredients it's just too uneven, even with turning. And there is no comparison with frying. It is *not* a substitute for frying. Anything you can fry in a pan in a few minutes takes far longer in an air fryer and is not nearly so nice. I don't think it's even a money saver unless you use it only for reheating and very simple baking. It takes so much longer than frying or grilling that it must surely be more costly than those methods. Maybe it should be marketed as a great baked potato machine. Anyway I got bored with it and went back to traditional methods and rediscovered tasty food, and spent less time cooking too.
