A scientist, poet, writer and community activist for education. Passionate about engaging young people in the processes of research, discovery and innovation. For more than ten years, I have provided over 700 students, college and high school, with early research participation opportunities during the regular school year as well as the summer.
Students are involved in novel synthetic organic chemistry projects such as developing: (i) hybrid drugs that are potentially antibacterial, antiparasitic, antipesticidal and antimalarial and (ii) novel dyes that can serves as sensors for toxic materials, including chemical warfare agents.
