Dear parents and whānau

Kia mahi tahi ai te wahoe

Like many of you the staff of Auckland Normal Intermediate are in busy mode. Making sure that students are finishing the year with confidence around learning, connections and extracurricular activities, as well as completing the planning for 2025. The whakatauki above talks to working together for the future and that is definitely what is important for us at ANI.

It is an exciting time as the BOT and the staff are completing the process of developing a new Strategic Plan. This plan will shape our direction and goals for the next several years, with a strong focus on enhancing learning outcomes, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, and expanding opportunities for all students. We’re committed to engaging with our school community throughout this process and will be reaching out to share this process to ensure it reflects our shared aspirations.

Our highly anticipated Cultural and Arts Festival was held on 7 November. It was a vibrant showcase of student creativity, talent and diversity. With music, dance and drama performances, the festival also celebrated the rich cultural heritage of our school community. Families, friends, and community were entertained on the evening with artistic expression and cultural pride. We look forward to seeing more opportunities for our talented students next year in this space!

We were proud to support our school choir as they represented us at the Albert-Eden Choral Festival this year! This event brings together choirs from across our area to share and celebrate the joy of singing. Our students have been rehearsing tirelessly (under the tutelage of Ms Smith, Mrs Purchase and Mr Gleeson) and their dedication contributed to a stunning performance that showcased their hard work and passion for music. Thank you to everyone who went along on the night and supported not only our choir but all of the singers.

On Tuesday 12 November, the All Whites, New Zealand’s national football team, visited our school! This unique opportunity was encouraging for our students who had represented our school in Football and Futsal this year. For our students to meet some of the country’s top athletes, ask questions, and learn about the dedication and teamwork required to compete at an international level, was both inspirational and motivating. It reinforced the values of perseverance and sportsmanship that allowed the players to get to the level they are at. We were honoured to host these talented players and look forward to supporting them as they continue to journey towards the next football World Cup.

Again ngā mihi for the continued support. I hope you are seeing growth in your child, not only academically but with their confidence in who they are and what they stand for. We are pushing ahead to finish the year well.

EPRO8

Kia ora koutou,

On Wednesday 6 November, Ben and I went to the EPRO8 inter-school event at Blockhouse Bay Intermediate and watched 8 of our amazing tauira compete in the 3 hour long challenge.

They made scooters and rollercoasters and our minds were BLOWN. One team even made a WASHING MACHINE

Our Year 8 Team managed to start two challenges in the time frame and did a great job working together.

Our Year 7 team took 3rd place completing the roller coaster challenge and had fantastic positive energy the whole time! They have qualified for semi-finals which will be hosted at ANI in early December.

If you see the kids around – give them a high five and ask them HOW THEY DO IT!?!

Ngā mihi

Choir

On Wednesday 13 November, we had the Eden Albert Choral Festival rehearsal during the day and the performance in the evening.

The choir and vocal ensemble sounded amazing! It’s a fantastic event with eleven different choirs performing together at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell. It sounded absolutely fantastic!

**All Whites visit ANI

This week ANI hosted some very special visitors, four members of the All Whites!!!

It was great having the All Whites come and visit at ANI.

According to Flynn, Room 14, ‘It was inspirational to see professional footballers at school, coach us and give us some tips and it was really cool to have them play football with us! It was also nice that we recognised them and knew who they were.’

The All Whites helped ref a couple of games, gave some pointers, tips and tricks and signed a few posters for the futsallers and footballers.

All in all, it was a great visit! Thanks for coming!

**CZ Badminton

We had a fabulous day at CZ Badminton on Friday 1 November. Mr Xavier Rice did a fantastic job organising the event and it ran so smoothly.

Our teams played so well with all but the girls singles making the semi-finals and going on to make 4 finals!

It was wonderful to see the players and sports leaders jumping to do any task they were given and frequently volunteering to score and to help out across the tournament.

Thanks to everyone for their support.

Yaaaaaay badminton!

**CZ Girls Touch Rugby

We had a wonderful day in the sun at CZ Girls Touch on Tuesday 5 November.

Our girls did really well considering the speed of the games and the 10 minute rest in between games in the blazing sun was a new experience for a lot of the girls. I was so impressed by the way our girls stayed tight and hung tough and just kept playing.

We placed 9th with 2 wins out of 7 games.

Thank you for your support.

**CZ Boys and Mixed Touch Rugby

We had an awesome day out at CZ touch. Some serious skill, speed and agility on display.

There were some great results with a 4th place from the boy’s team and 5th from our mixed team.

Our AWESOME kids continue to impress our community, running around the whole park picking up rubbish to finish the day.

Reception Reminders

Dear Parents,

We kindly request your assistance in reminding your children that our office is a professional environment and must be treated with the utmost respect at all times. It is essential that all students maintain their best behaviour while in this space.

Students should not enter the reception area during school hours unless necessary and must not use it as a place to socialise or skip class. Additionally, we ask that parents report to reception when signing out students or arranging pick-ups during school hours.

Please plan pickups outside of break times or coordinate with the school in advance to avoid any delays. Classrooms and device cabinets are often locked during breaks, so this helps us ensure your child can retrieve their belongings promptly. When you arrive at reception, provide your child’s name and room number so we can arrange for them to be brought to you. Additionally, please remember to sign your child out of school, as it is crucial for health and safety to know which students have left during the day.

We also want to please remind you that if a student is late to school, they must sign in at reception.

We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining the respect and appropriateness of this space.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
