It occurs mostly in the form of running water. This study was to develop information from which dam can be adopted for the purpose of ground water recharge. Gravity Dams are constructions built across a river and used to interrupt and store water for special purpose. Dams used for the purpose of ground water recharge. The study consisted of a site selection phase, a surveying phase and this particular scheme lies in highly favourable zone for recharge as classified in zonation map for Ground water recharge .Totally 6989 Ha agriculture land in benefitted through dam. Estimation of the structure is done using Ms Excel. Totally 323327m 2 area survey. Length of the dam is 450m and height is 30m. the approximate estimation cost 73,75,41,737 OBJECTIVES To decrease the wastage of water from Thamirabarani For drinking water supply , agriculture irrigation purpose it will use for 6989 Hectare surrounding area and flood control. A dam can also be used to collect water or for storage of water which can be evenly distributed between locations. Dams generally serve the primary purpose of retaining water, while other structures such as floodgates or levees (also known as dikes) are used to manage or prevent water flow into specific land regions.
