some bastard's life (original) (raw)
Like all good things, I've come to an end here.
Godspeed my friends.
10 year update: Twitter: dead. 500px: worthless. Google+: long relegated to the bin of history. Facebook: still around, but no one is going to see this.
It's weird to think it's been 21 years since I first wrote something on this site, and for the majority of those years, it's just been a place to go remember what being 20 was like.

- 11:34 Was going to eat his healthy microwave dinner and apple at lunch. Instead I shall have a free lunch to discuss stuff with a vendor. #

- 02:44 @tweetcaroline with a 9am meeting, I fully understand where you are coming from. #
- 10:13 Sad for Cadel Evans. Two man race now - almost literally. #
- 10:24 It's Contador time, even if Schleck is in yellow. #
- 11:09 I swear if my big feet kick out another switches power cord I'm going to go bonkers. #
- 12:08 @bikehugger We're working on bike tracking solutions. Some already deployed in LE environments, working on a more user-friendly solution. #
- 14:50 @cyclelicious My employer -> freightsecurity.net. Rarely mention my employer, but we have a few tracking devices used for bike tracking. #
- 14:51 @bikehugger Big problem is battery. Either easy to forget to charge or hard to hide (wires can attract attention even to average crackhead). #
- 14:52 Trying to get my NxT1 link cranked up with Sprint. Multilink isn't working and not hearing much. Oh joy. #
- 15:01 @cyclelicious Not yet, waiting on the new F2 for consumer roll out but cops use our F1 product today for recovering bikes and have success. #
- 16:39 Router: installed and network up. #

- 11:43 Today is a good day to get some analysis done. #
- 18:26 @gminks I say Cert test. If you're not certified you're not selling. Real pros wouldn't degrade themselves. #
- 18:56 @gminks Why you would bring "booth babes" to a pro-level conference, I don't know. I'm less likely to buy from misogynic vendors. #

- 16:17 @cerealjoe I loved that game, was sad France lost. The headbutt was epic. #
- 17:16 Listening to old Spoon shows. Weird to hear no one react to My Mathematical Mind in late '04, in '09 loud cheers. #
- 20:32 @bikehugger I'm enjoying seeing some European brand stage wins. At least Specialized seems to innovate. Trek seems to be in cash cow mode. #

- 01:15 Reading about the Arkansas D-II schools leaving the GSC. Yes, I have no life. #
- 10:41 I really enjoy seeing the French win stages in the Tour. #
- 15:08 @meganvtaylor they all live in Dallas or Lubbock. #

- 07:28 ...and the support phone rings at 7am. Time to wakey wakey. #
- 09:36 @RockCityTees Ha - I'm 'awesome boyfriend' in that fan mail #forrealsyo #
- 10:16 The joys of being everything to everyone - in one day I'm doing BGP, fixing desktops, and managing prod apps. Oh joy. #
- 10:58 @bikehugger I like some of the Garmin riders (Dave Z, VdV, etc), but the team deserves a level of dislike for screwing pver Big George. #
- 14:20 .@valb00 When I buy a AX4-5i, I lose 4 disks for the OS. 4 disks = big bucks in any storage system. I don't with NetApp. #
- 14:49 .@etherealmind I think everyone does expect more from Cisco. For the price, I should not have 45 day lead times on 2900 series routers. #
- 15:06 @etherealmind and that too. I just want hardware orders to show up when I need it, not when Cisco's production schedulers are happy. #
- 18:20 Thanks to Aquapalooza for ruining my ability to ride my bike on 620. #
- 22:03 CFQ or Deadline for DB IO loads. The debate rages on in my head :) #

- 00:09 I guess buying a bike with Campy factory installed in the US is like finding a Fiat dealer in the US - just don't try. #
- 10:05 I hate days when I'm quaddruple booked with important tasks. #
- 13:45 Wally Burger = nom nom. #
- 14:36 @DellServerGeek I figured you worked for HP Scott ;-) #
- 14:36 So busy today I can't even bother to read twitter. Thankfully my cabling vendor is coming on very short notice to run some cables. #
- 14:53 @DellServerGeek I'm good at recognizing those things :) #
- 14:53 Okay - now Cisco Routers for the Desperate has been busted out. I'm so frazzled I can't even be bothered to grab the IOS book. #
- 15:14 RT @chrismevans Ontap 8 Simulator - it lives! < Now if NetApp would just get me (poss. future customer) a copy it would be all good :) #
- 16:17 I hit the jackpot. Our cabling guy is here running cables, and AT&T shows up to drop the loops in. Almost can't beat that. #
- 21:35 Tonight is a good night for catching up on email. Time to get a few items lined out before tomorrow. #
- 21:43 @wcpreston Does the 32 bit version not work (if you have access to it)? Might be worth a shot. MSFT has a few if's on 64-bit Office. #
- 21:44 Things @abartlett doesn't care about: LeBron James or the NBA at all. #
- 21:48 @tracymrogers People with nothing better to worry about. Our national priorities are way fucked up. #
- 21:57 @wcpreston I wouldn't doubt if it is something between Hardware DEP and Parallels. 32 bit = no hwDEP (per MS Office 2k10 resource kit) #
- 22:01 @tracymrogers Yeah that too. But still, it's an excuse for Scottie Pippen to trend, and as an Arkie, I can approve of that :p #

- 08:51 Thanks slapd for ruining my morning. #
- 10:02 Today is a weird day. I got an email this morning asking if I turned TdF video feeds off. Umm, no, not with the Cervelo owning CEO. #
- 11:33 @valb00 That may be the most honest evaluation of how storage vendor selection goes I've read in a while. #
- 14:19 Wonders why no one can follow simple instructions anymore? #
- 16:17 I think tonight is a good night to write a blog post about virtualization #

- 10:02 Sad I'm not at home watching Stage 3 of the Tour. Sounds like a wild one. #
- 10:03 Oh, and Saxo Bank: please bury Contador today. I mean put him in a world of hurt unknown to him. #
- 10:35 The biggest downside to NetApp: They like their C&Ds over ZFS. Probably way to much #benicekids #
- 13:47 The dev guys are down the hall watching football, err I mean soccer. I'm off to teach Confluence to the ops team. #ohjoy #
- 14:01 @SFoskett Gotta pick off easy targets. SCO v IBM taught the lawyers one thing - don't go after anyone with money for good lawyers. #
- 14:39 @storagebod there is only one way to learn to not sue over silly stuff - be cast as the devil. #
- 14:47 I like being vendor agnostic. I'll hate on NetApp when it needs it, which is right now. #
- 15:00 I got a good laugh out of @storagebod's last post. Next thing you know Dave Hitz is going to go out and bite the head off of a bat. #
- 15:04 I'm probably pulling for #Ned, mostly because #uru kinda got lucky/cheated a bit. #
- 15:13 Confluence training went well. Team really liked what they saw which makes me happy. Beats buying SharePoint! #
