A group of conservatives plans to air a series of television ads to counter criticism of former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
The Alaska governor has come under much criticism after she and Sen. John McCain lost their bid for the White House, with some Republicans blaming her for their ticket’s loss. Gov. Palin has granted numerous interviews with national media outlets, in an apparent bid to counter the negative views and secure her future in the Republican Party.
Now she has some help. A political action committee called “Our Country Deserves Better” is raising money to air a series of TV advertisements voicing support for Gov. Palin. The group is headed by Howard Kaloogian, a California Republican and former state legislator.

There is much talk about new communities, here are my two cents. There is much debate about what will happen now to these communities. Communities are like coalitions, they are sometimes temporary and fragile things. There has been a lot built up here, and these will all continue to evolve. Here are some other communities you may wish to also join.
I know it is way too soon, but I created this community before the election because I had hope.
2012obama
I co-moderate this long lasting but smaller Obama community. Generally anything Obama related is accepted and debate can often flow between very different perspectives.obama_rama
This is another community I co-moderate and it's focus will no doubt be on new Obama and other possible policies that would largely be considered progressive. It might be more policy specific than some of you wish, but the more the better!progressivism

I voted today during the morning rush before everyone goes to work.
I live in Minneapolis Minnesota and the line has never taken more than 20 minutes max, but today it was a hour and a half.
Pictures that wet through my mind as I waited to vote about the "real" Obamas. What kind of first couple will they be?

Interesting last minute change in strategy. So apparently McCain is sacraficing spending money for on the ground get out the votes efforts to instead equal Obama's commercial spending in these last few days. An interesting article at the top here discusses McCain's efforts in this regard so far.

In the last few days, when most people have either made op their minds, or are enjoying the holiday weekend and not watching much tv, McCain decides to now ramp up the commercials. Also, in the final last days when the get out the vote effort becomes paramount, McCain abandons it.
What would a McCain presidency really look like? There would be constant Mavericky changes to policy that would seem like the opposite to what should be done and every move would leave everyone shaking their heads, wondering WTF he was thinking and WTF he would possibly do next.
Yes, even WORSE than the past 8 years. I mean, I always assumed he would be just as bad, but his erratic nature is WORSE! Or does anybody see the brilliance behind it that I do not???

Talk me Down! So, worrying more and more about GOP voter suppression and tampering with election results, I googled and found this article from Security Pro.
This quote disturbs me, and I share with you because misery demands company:
". . . .Spoonamore, who has helped develop security solutions for MasterCard, American Express, Bloomberg, Boeing, NBC, News Corp., the Dept. of Energy, the US Navy, and the Dept. of State, is on record, in a sworn affidavit, explaining how easily these voting machines can be hacked and manipulated. . . . Most disturbing about Spoonamore's claims is that there is already a plan in play to swing the Presidential race to John McCain, who he claims will win by 3 electoral votes and 51% of the popular vote. If these claims were made someone less credible, it would be fodder for conspiracy theory."

Stupid question I hear many people say that the polls that show the race neck and neck have bias. I don't argue with this, but does anybody have any evidence that these pollsters were wrong in the past in overestimating republican candidates? You know, what I want to hear is something like "well Rasmusson said that bla would win by 10 points but they lost by 10 points".
To distract you from how stupid I am, I have some stupid photos to distract you.

of kettle and pot The Republicans have made a lot of noise of Hamas' Endorsement of Obama. But who just endorsed McCain totally blindsided the GOPers.
John McCain isn’t boasting about a new endorsement, one of the very, very few he has received from overseas. It came a few days ago:
“Al Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election,” read a commentary on a password-protected Islamist Web site that is closely linked to Al Qaeda and often disseminates the group’s propaganda.
The endorsement left the McCain campaign sputtering, and noting helplessly that Hamas appears to prefer Barack Obama. Al Qaeda’s apparent enthusiasm for Mr. McCain is manifestly not reciprocated.
