Characterization Data [Compare Characterization Data]
Result: Presumed Positive
Protein Array in which CPTC-SLAMF8-1 is screened against the NCI60 cell line panel for expression. Data is normalized to a mean signal of 1.0 and standard deviation of 0.5. Color conveys over-expression level (green), basal level (blue), under-expression level (red).
Western Blot - Tissue or Cell Lysate
Result: Positive
Western blot using CPTC-SLAMF8-1 as primary antibody against human PBMC (2), HeLa (3), Jurkat (4), A549 (5), MCF7 (6) and H226 (7) whole cell lysates. The expected molecular weight is 31.7 kDa. Cytochrome C was used as a loading control. Target is glycosylated. A549 is positive. All other cell lines are negative.

Function:
This gene encodes a member of the CD2 family of cell surface proteins involved in lymphocyte activation. These proteins are characterized by Ig domains. This protein is expressed in lymphoid tissues, and studies of a similar protein in mouse suggest that it may function during B cell lineage commitment. The gene is found in a region of chromosome 1 containing many CD2 genes.SLAMF8 (SLAM Family Member 8) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with SLAMF8 include Familial Cold Autoinflammatory Syndrome 3. An important paralog of this gene is LY9.May play a role in B-lineage commitment and/or modulation of signaling through the B-cell receptor.
