APIAHiP: Asian & Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation (original) (raw)

Asian & Pacific Islander Americans have shaped this country for centuries.

Less than 1% of historic sites acknowledge that shared heritage.

APIAHiP is the only national organization dedicated to changing that.

We protect historic places and cultural resources significant to Asian & Pacific Islander American communities through education, technical assistance, community advocacy, and grantmaking.

APIA communities have the history. We help them navigate the systems: historic designation processes, grant applications, advocacy campaigns, cultural mapping, so their places get the recognition and protection they deserve.

Through Preservation Pathways and the Placekeepers Fund, we are provide direct services and distributing $1.5 million in grants directly to community-led APIA preservation projects across the United States and Pacific Island territories.

Through convenings, research, and a growing national network, we connect preservationists, historians, planners, and community advocates across the country who share the work of elevating APIA heritage.
