Apocalypse Rising (original) (raw)

09 January 2009 @ 11:44 am

Well, as much as I hate to do it, I am stepping down as track director for the Apocalypse Rising track. I've loved working for Dragon*Con and this was a tough decision for me to have to make. But things in my life (work, events going on for me this year, etc...) are going to leave me very little time, and I had to sit down and assess whether or not I could give the track the time it deserved. And unfortunately, I didn't think I could and I am not even sure I will be able to make it to Dragon*Con this year. And if that was the case, I didn't want to leave the track in a lurch close to convention, so I made my decision now. A replacement for me should announced soon (I've put a name forward of who I think will be an amazing director), but whomever they choose, I hope you give them the support and encouragement that you've given me and my staff the last few years. To everyone who's worked with the track or attended panels, thank you. You've made the last couple of years for the track great and we couldn't do it without you. And I hope you'll continue to take part in the track's events for years to come.

I didn't get to post about this from the convention, but Phil Kloer who is a reporter for the AJC paper did an article on the track that was published on Friday.

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound from convention, and no one is too sick from the dreaded concrud!

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who attended the Apocalypse Rising track.

- To my staff: y'all rock and this weekend would not have been possible without all the hard work you put in during the months leading up to convention and during convention. I loved working with all of you and can't wait to get started on next year!

- To all the guests and panelists who came and spent time with us this year, you all blew me away. The staff can plan all we want, but it takes amazing people like you to make the events a success. We'd love to have you all back again next year.

- And most importantly, all the fans and attendees who made time for us in their weekend schedule and chose to spend a few hours with us. We loved seeing all your happy faces and seeing you participate in our discussions and events. We'd love to have feedback on what you liked, what you didn't like, what you want to see next year. Feel free to leave comments here or email us at apocalypserising@dragoncon.org.

Again, a huge heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this year a success. See y'all next year!

Due to a staff member deciding to change their plans last minute and now not even being sure if they're coming to convention, I need to replace them on staff. I am looking for a general staff member to help out with the track. If you are interested, please email me at apocalypse(at)dragoncon(dot)org
