Shadowplay (original) (raw)

So, about two weeks into December last year I started doing some shower exercise. Like, sit ups and stuff like that while I'm in the shower and right after or right before. I've been slowly adding repetitions and more exercises, hoping to fool my lazy brain into having a morning routine because I so despise having to set time aside to work out. This because I am so annoyed with my thighs and butt. Like, whyyyy, butt, whhyyy do you have to look all.. lumpy??? I know my body and I know toning that area is going to be a huge challenge. I'm drinking lots of water, trying to stop adding sugar and salt to food -like, it's already been seasoned, it probably doesn't need anything else- and doing the morning shower work out, which right now is probably 15 or 20 minutes long. Flist, do you have any advice? I don't want to slave in a gym and I'm not really looking to loose weight, just.. tone up my lower body. All my workout is for legs and bum, and I'm still technically doing two hours of yoga a week (I haven't gone all December since I was broke, but I'm returning next week.) I would like to see a reasonable change in May, once the swimsuit season starts! So I have five months. I've been doing this about three weeks now, every day, and I'm pretty motivated, so hopefully I won't quit!

With that in mind -it wasn't really a new year resolution, but you know, why not make it one?- here's this year's challenges for myself! If you have any advice, you know I'm all ears!

+Have a less chunky ass and thighs by May. They don't have to be perfect, just less junk and more muscle.

+Get laser epilation. I'm kind of scared about this one because I hear it hurts like a motherfucker, but I've been trying a bunch of hair removal methods and they all have pretty nasty cons or side effects! I can't shave everyday, wax hasn't been entirely effective, the creams burn pretty nasty, and tweezers are just not practical.

+Take a design class, any design class. I haven't been much in touch with the design crowd since I started working by myself. I'm planning on taking a course on recycled materials for object design, just gotta check on the budget.

+Take up a class on something. I'm dropping out of Italian class -the teacher kind of gets on my nerves more often than not, these days- and.. well, I'm not like super fluent in Italian but it's definitely not bad, and since my short to medium term plans to use the language have lapsed -I'm not going to Italy for a master degree in the foreseeable future- I think I can pick up something else. I'm open to suggestions! I might return to sewing class, or pick up another language. I would cry of joy if I could find a Russian class, but I don't think that's very likely... Mandarin Chinese and Japanese are options, though, and there's always French, though for some reason I've never been much interested in it, but between the Italian grammar and the German grammar, I've been told French would be a good next bet. It could also be something like a cooking class, or climbing, or.. I would like to learn to knit! so. Anything super exciting you guys do that you would suggest?

+Read two books a month. I only managed about one book a month last year, which is rather pitiful! sure I read a ton more comics than ever before, but still, I wasted a lot of time in random TV watching. MOAR READING.

+Travel. I want to go to San Diego ComicCon this year, and I'm really hoping to make it to Japan. Anything else would be an awesome bonus!

That's kind of it, I think! What are your plans for 2011, flist?
