The triennial Huong examination in Vietnam history. Statistics of laureates since 1075 (11th century) up to 1880 (19th century). Large geographic area covering eight provinces, from Quang Binh to Gia Dinh, where candidates came from for a triennial Huong exam in 1813. Method to deduce the birth year of the laureates. The Lunar calendar with its 60-year cycle explained for the non-mathematical readers.
