Around Fremont (original) (raw)

He showed up at his dad's at 4 am. We let him sleep a couple of hours and then bundled him off to school, dirty clothes, wild eyes and all. He was not a happy camper but running away doesn't mean he gets a vacation day.

This school deals with a wide range of kids with issues and they were waiting with open arms. Thanks to everyone for your help and support.

I live in Fremont, in the Irvington district. My 15-year-old son has been missing since Thursday, August 4, at around 3 pm. He was last seen getting off his school bus in front of my home. He is mentally ill and has disappeared before, but never for days at a time. I am posting this flyer in the hopes that someone may have seen him or may know something of him (the picture is not the greatest but he is camera-averse). Thanks for reading.

I was just in Family Pets getting some mealworms for my horde of ravening leopard geckos when the owner alerted me to a kitten she found abandoned at Lake Elizabeth.

He's approximately 12 weeks old.
Not sure of vaccine history, if any. I didn't see if he was neutered (unlikely). Unsure about FiV/FeLV.

He is very friendly, and as cute as a kitten is legally allowed to be. He's a gray stripey guy, and can use some fattening up.

If you are interested in seeing him, he's being fostered at Family Pets on Fremont and Grimmer.

Please don't ask me about the kitten. I have posted everything I know about him and promised the store owner I'd help put the word out :)

Would anyone have a recommendation for a local dentist specialized in handling phobic patients? Much appreciated, thanks.

He'll make beautiful babies. We won't ask you whether you'd prefer him for soup, but he's gorgeous, non-aggressive, would make beautiful babies.
Available in 94580, beyond by arrangement.

I'm sure many of you have heard by now that Borders is closing. According to the Borders.com website, BOTH the Union City and Fremont ones are supposed to close.

I haven't had a chance to visit either location yet, but apparently stores marked for closure will do so no later than April. :(

Just thought I'd add: I've been to the Fremont location as I got an email that they have begun their store closing sales. If you plan to go and buy stuff, bring your own bags. For some reason, the store isn't giving out any.

If anyone was going to the Roger Waters concert at the HP Pavilion in San Jose tonight, when was it announced that the concert was rescheduled for tomorrow? More to the point: where was it announced? I drove all the way out there and wondered why there was nobody near the Shark Tank, and why parking was so easy.

*confused*

How are they going to fit two sold out nights worth of people into one show? Are we going to sit on each other's laps?

I went to the B&N store today and saw that they will be closing on December 31, 2010. They already have some stuff on sale at 40%--mostly just their bargain books, calenders, journals and their home & office supplies. Apparently the landlord wants to hike the rent and the store doesn't want to pay. They want to move somewhere else but they don't know where.

I know it's a chain but I'm sorry to see them go since I remember how excited I was as a kid when it opened. And I know Borders is across the street but I have a lot of fond memories of this place.

Hi everyone, my roomie and I are looking for a local running track - we want to do sprints as part of our workouts, but to do them safely you pretty much need a nice smooth track. I've checked the websites of some local high schools, but couldn't find any information regarding public usage of their tracks outside of school hours.

I will probably end up contacting the schools individually on Monday to see if I can find out their policies. In the meantime, does anyone have any recommendations they can share? Thank you!
