Design/methodology/approach The teaching methods design was based on the effectuation approach and considering the comprehensive entrepreneurship competence model as theoretical grounding. The teaching methods experimentation took place in three countries (Estonia, Italy and Poland), collecting pre–post self-assessment surveys from 404 students of entrepreneurship courses. The results of the experimental groups were compared, in each country, with those of control groups not exposed to the same teaching. Findings Students participating in classes using innovative teaching methods declared an increase in entrepreneurship competencies, with statistically significant differences, contrasting the results in the control group...

A number of network studies, especially those concerned with the role of social capital in organizational settings, has focused on those actors who are most important in shaping the structural features of the network. We focus on one such actors, the broker, that is the one whose ties connect otherwise disconnected sets of network nodes. Our aim is assessing the mechanisms through which the broker legitimizes himself in his own role. In fact, existing studies mainly document the consequences of the broker network position, but do not analyze the mechanisms through which this position is acquired vis a vis the other actors in the network. In this work we address both the organizational and the individual levels of analysis. At the organizational level we analyze the evolution of intra-organizational networks in the cont...

This is suited to emerging areas of innovation where formal research lags behind evidence from professional or technical sources.FindingsAlthough the grey literature contains a growing stream of publications aimed at helping PA practitioners to “be ethical,” overall, research on ethical issues in PA is still at an early stage. Optimistic and technocentric perspectives dominate the PA discourse, although key themes seen in the wider literature on digital/data ethics are also evident. Risks and recommendations for PA projects co...

However, little is known about how they are used for fundraising, especially regarding their benefits/disbenefits, and the optimum strategies for maximizing value from such campaigns. The study presented here aimed to address this gap by collecting, analyzing and synthesizing the results of the corpus of published academic research on this topic. Of 194 potentially relevant search results generated from seven international online databases, only 71 (62 studies) fully met the inclusion criteria. Most of these qualifying studies were published in social science journals in the past three years and derived from high-income countries. Our findings indicate that the benefits NPOs can obtain from using SM for fundraising include increased transparency and accountability, operational, involvement and engagement, and improved organizational image (although in respect of the two latter, outcomes can be mixed). The strategies for NPOs' SM use for fundraising focused either on generic management of social media for NPO's fundraising or on management of some specific SM fundraising campaigns.

TT from universities to business as a source of innovations and inventions is, on the one hand, an important factor in socio-economic development, on the other hand, it generates income for universities and, by creating links with market practice, also affects their scientific development and quality of teaching. However, due to its complexity and due to the pluralism and heterogeneity of the approaches involved in TT processes at a country (or even regional) level, participation is a difficult challenge for the academic community. In the article the main factors influencing TT between universities and business are identified and a relevant process emphasizing into the requirements of universities being freshmen in this field is presented. In the frame of the current work a two-fold approach was applied: (a) a literature collection and revi...

The latter also implies a notable surge in the demand for remote jobs (Das, 2021b; Seaman, 2020). This "biggest (forced) experiment in history" (Green, 2020) has created debates in academic and business circles that are watching closely and trying to understand what kind of potential benefits and unintended consequences can be generated for the organizations, individuals involved, and the society in general. However, this is not an easy task because individual examples of remote work during COVID-19 are spread between interdisciplinary scholarly and practitioner literature. This scoping review addresses this gap by identifying and synthesizing existing international evidence on the adoption and spread of remote work practices during the pandemic. In particular, this review explores the benefits/opportunities and challenges/dangers that are created or could be potentially created by this style of working for all stakeholders. Moreover, it provides insights and recommendations that may help organizations, employees, work consultants, and policymakers to develop or implement evidence-based remote work strategies.

Italian clusters offer a recognized example of territorial production model. However, recent studies in the field showed that it is passing trough a crisis. Several enterprises are delocalizing their manufacture abroad loosing the shared knowledge that characterizes the cluster culture. The paper is part of the area of studies that analyses cluster dynamics (Krackhardt, 1994; Ahuja, 2000; Hansen, 2002; Zaho & Aram, 1995; Nooteboom, 1992, 2004; Gulati and Gargiulo, 1999) and explores the inter-organisational relationship in a cluster situated in the Campania region and concentrated, in particular, in the urban area of Naples. This is the first part of a study that aims to analyse the evolution of a traditional industry cluster operating in a moment of maturity/crisis, analysing the impact of possible actions on the part of a leading organization or guide (Lorenzoni, 1992) and an...

This concept relates to organizational identity. However, while organizational identity has an internal employee focus, corporate identity has an external focus. As such, it is often used as a synonym to organizational image that organizations project externally. Social media have created a multitude of ways for organizations, as well as for their employees, independently, to develop and disseminate corporate identity. However, although there have already been attempts to explore the role of employees’ personal social media profiles in projecting organizational identity externally, little is still known about how organizations use their social media profiles for these purposes. This empirical research, which is part of a broader doctoral research focusing on organizational identity and social media, aims to address this gap. Building on previous corporate identity and social media research, and adopting an existing framework explaining the relationship between social media and corporate identity, it analyses social media profiles of 12 international HR consulting companies. In particular, it explores the platforms they use, type of content they publish, their approaches for stakeholder engagement and interaction for building stronger organizational image/corporate identity. Diverse off-the-shelf applications were used for collecting social media data for the period between January and December 2017. We expect that the results of our analysis will help to understand how organizations (specifically HR consulting companies) use social media to project and strengthen their corporate identity, and what organizations from other sectors can learn from them.
