ascendant_rpg - Profile (original) (raw)

It has been two years since the end of the Great War against You-Know-Who, and the wizarding world is rebuilding. Children have been left orphaned, businesses and fortunes in ruins, and many who were once friends are now estranged. The Ministry is in shambles and no longer has the people's confidence, yet its Minister perseveres in trying to make it work.

And yet there is hope. Neighbours work side by side to help each other through hard times. Hogwarts is rebuilt sufficiently to provide its students with an education, allowing those whose NEWT year was cut short to return for one final year before going out into the world. Some of those who had been in what once had been the DA have now started Quango, a wizard peace corps made up of young people who are dedicated toward rebuilding the wizarding world. All are welcome to join. Former members of the Order of the Phoenix attempt to find their place in this changing world.

But evil did not die with Voldemort. Since the final battle, Slytherin House has been associated with treason, and its members past and present marginalized in wizard society. A terrorist faction has been using this development as fodder for a new movement against the Ministry, Quango, and anyone else who stands in its way.

Who will you be? A member of Quango working for change? A terrorist trying to bring back the days of Pureblood supremacy? Someone just trying to find their place in the world? Or will you be caught in the crossfire?

RULES
1. No god-modding. Do NOT force other characters into action without their approval. If in doubt, ask.

2. 1 game-day equals 1 real week. At the mods' discretion, the game may occasionally jump a few game-weeks to keep the story moving forward. Overlap (simultaneous events) and backdating (scenes that happened 'earlier' in game-time) are both permissible.

A note about backdating: If you wish to backdate a scene that happened 1-2 game days ago, you may place it in the main RPG journal. If the scene is older than 1-2 game days, you may place it in your character's personal journal.

3. If you plan to apply for a major character, please be sure you have a significant amount of time to devote to plotting and threading. One post every few weeks is not sufficient for a major role. With that in mind, we expect activity over any given fortnight for any character. This can include participating in scenes or posting in your character's journal. If you have reason to be inactive for more than two weeks, you are expected to contact the mods. Otherwise, your character will be considered abandoned and will be re-opened for application.

4. Original Characters are permitted, however, they must be more than 20 years old. For characters in and around Harry's age group/school years, there are a substantial number of canon characters to choose from, some of them no more than names on pages and therefore, open to plenty of interpretation.

5. As this is an adult oriented game with mature themes and plotlines, there will be no playable characters currently attending Hogwarts. Professor characters are permitted, as they have leeway to interact with several characters outside of school.

6. Please do not change any canon or otherwise pre-established information about your character without running it by the mods first. Development over the course of the game is natural; sudden changes are not. You are not "locked into" canon relationships, but the changes must occur realistically.

7. Check and edit your posts for grammatical errors. An occasional typo is fine. Net speak is not.

8. Out-of-character comments, questions and plotting belong in

9. The mods will post plot summaries/articles every week in ascendant_ooc. You're expected to keep up with game activity.

10. You must be at least 18 to play. No exceptions.
