Once started, this endeavour, enthusiastically embraced by some and sceptically accepted by the rest, absorbs significant resources that, in the happy endings, are hardly returned within years. The works approaching Change Management or Business Transformation Management abound in recommendations, methods, techniques and good practice concerning the way the change should be fulfilled, while the references to the reverse path or to the recovery of some previous states once considered old fashioned but actually proven as effective, are scarce. This work aims to prove that no business transformation approach is fully effective unless it contains long run support for deep recovery and the possibility to return, at least partially, to some of the initial stages. It analyses some situations that might lead to the necessity of reversing a part of the transformation p...

Another related term, competitiveness of an economical branch, economical sector or particular industry, is used as an indicator of great importance for the position of the products or services of a specific sector on a market which is more and more crowded. Taking into account the importance of the above mentioned terms, especially the importance granted to them by the Lisbon Agenda, and the fact that a bigger and bigger share of the Gross Domestic Product of a nation is achieved in the field of public services, this work tries to analyze the extent, at the level of the Romanian society, of the contribution of public services of general concern to the emergence and development of regional competitiveness poles, and also the way some services from the category mentioned could become themselves competitiveness poles at European and Romanian economy level.

Considered in many cases as a last solution to the major challenges of the market and socio-economic environment, the business reengineering has to follow two main directions: the fulfilment of the business goals and the evaluation of the external factors toward the processes of a company. The influence of each factor should be analysed in detail and projected separately for each organizational process in order to be included in the said process model. This paper presents a formalised approach of the interrelation between a process and the influence of an external factor toward the said process, as well as a case study that illustrates a practical application of this correlation.

The desired benefits primarily aim the reduction of fleet operating costs associated with the repair, maintenance and fleet renewal grade, and also with the employees’ remuneration based on specific Key Process Indicators (KPI). Secondly, integrating such programs in the CSR framework, companies (both companies with large fleets and companies in the automotive industry) benefit from improved market image, including a higher degree of traffic safety for drivers and a much stronger legal protection in health and safety, in the situations caused by the occurrence of unfortunate incidents involving undisciplined driving staff. This paper addresses the economic dimension of defensive driving programs as innovative solutions to reduce costs and increase competitiveness.

As a reaction to the external signals, the internal change may be superficial when it affects only the development of activity in different sectors, or might be profound, when it changes the main processes and rules of the business and even the philosophy of the company’s existence. Speaking about structural changes, one of the most common approaches of the modern management is the re-design of the business architecture. The new architectural models such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), presented in this paper, come with important advantages, but their implementation is not always very easy. This paper tries to present some of the most common encountered contextual characteristics which are able to start the implementation of Service Oriented Architecture, some advantages of this concept as well ...

Considering the results of this research, there were identified the foundamental principles of an intelligent management model for public management (subsidiarity, public value and deliberative governance). Starting from this point, we proposed a new intelligent management model applicable in romanian public sector, which can be structured into three major components: top management component (executive and deliberative), operational management component (back office) and communication component (front level). As a case study, we focused in particullary on the water supply public service and we developed a methodology for projecting the front-office component starting from the necessity of optimising stakeholder satisfaction.

The practical issues as case studies and problems to be solved are effective tools and their usage helps a lot, but the touch of reality is best felt by playing Management. Enterprise games and simulations are far more effective in practical training and much better for proper understanding of management techniques and that was proved long ago both in the best business schools around the world and in the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE). The research briefed in this paper focused on identifying efficient ways to create a new generation of management games based on the specifications of different categories of people involved in teaching and learning of Management at graduate and...

This approach is particularly important given the fact that, in Romania, the general public opinion is that between public and private companies there is still a gap in terms of labor productivity and competitiveness. At the same time, performance management is based on the involvement and empowerment of each employee. It is a fact that evaluation systems based on general performance criteria are doomed to failure because they are not derived from the tasks, competencies and responsibilities of each employee specifically.
