1. Biographical information
------------------------------
Born in the north-east of Flanders, Belgium, I attended secondary school in Maaseik, studying classics and developing a love for Ancient Greek culture and philosophy. I also learned to play piano and draw and paint.
I studied psychology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and graduated in the field of psychology of religion and cultural anthropology with a dissertation on the theory of mimesis by Rene Girard, taking modules in philosophy and (Freudian and Lacanian) psychoanalytic theory at the Institute of Philosophy. I complemented my undergraduate training with studies in cognition and neuroscience, and research experience at the Leuven Laboratory of Experimental Psychology. This put me on the path of cognitive psychology.
I am a member of the Psychonomic Society (USA), Association for Psychological Science (USA), and the Experimental Psychology Society (UK).
Other interests: horse riding, philosophy, anthropology and psychoanalysis, the classics, musicology, literature, visual art.
