One or more characteristics of a patient's heart, such as atrioventricular (AV) interval, PR interval and/or heart rate are monitored during an ablation procedure. A change in the heart characteristic detected during the ablation may indicate successful denervation. Accordingly, successive new locations may be targeted for ablation until a change is detected.

It builds on a series of experiences as a journal editor which span the print and digital eras, and focuses on two current activities with new journals. One was designed as a synoptic journal in a broad multidisciplinary field, supported by a commercial publisher; the other a non-revenue journal which aims to showcase the work of undergraduates in the author's institution. Despite the uniqueness of goals and delivery, some of the experiences-and challenges-have proved remarkably similar.

In an attempt to recreate a specific context for the use of the term space economy, we examine the production relations and social interactions existing in the initial period of industrialization within particular communities. We argue that the determination of social relations by a particular form of production and the purposive actions of individuals ...

We argue that Gottdiener was too hasty when he identified the demise of the local political realm, and we show that alternative interpretations are possible and necessary. We draw on two sets of literature: one concerning the local state and the other exploring the current phase of economic restructuring. Although we agree that urban analysis necessitates considering state theory and economic analysis, we conclude that Gottdiener's ambitious yet desolate analysis remains unproved.

He proposes a grim vision of late capitalism in which sleep deprivation and the disintegration of public and private spaces will become a market necessity. My attempt to understand is supported on two other authors. First, Hannah Arendt provided me with an analysis of origins, transformations and somewhat present version of the relation of private and public spheres. Second, Fredrich Schiller delivered an interesting theory on the aesthetic ideal, art, beauty and human experience of beauty. These three analyzes stand as basis for my attempt to present a proposal to overcome the crisis described by Crary and the answer is related to the issue of aesthetic experience of street art in urban space.

The villagers are descendants of conscripted labourers brought from Korea during the Second World War. Despite having lived in Japan for decades, the family members cannot vote and suffer discrimination of the sort that ...

In the context of a changing climate, it is imperative that individuals have access to a safe and sustainable environment; yet we must ask if this covenant is broken if people choose to place themselves in harm’s way. In its first part, this paper explores outcomes of climate change denial, manifested as continued migration to dangerous locations, and skepticism for adaptive strategies. The second half of the paper explores how localities can create a false narrative concerning risks, and asks whether communities also have a right to make mistakes?

It takes as its focus VOSviewer, a freely available software package used to construct and display bibliometric relationships between a variety of variables. Beginning with published examples, the paper proceeds to create an original case study using bibliometrics to explore the extent to which the field of remote sensing is contributing to the implementation of sustainable development goals. This example uses Scopus data and VOSviewer to examine and contrast co-occurrence data among publications in six journals, and it demonstrates how such software can be successfully used to undertake preliminary studies and to shape subsequent research which employs more formal approaches.

Using the Web of Science database, we demonstrate the growth of publications in the field, including papers in mitigation, adaptation and resilience. Using VOSviewer software, we show the connections between these subfields and the journals in which they are published. The analysis displays clusters of publications in different subfields and minimal convergence of research in STEM fields and the social sciences. We suggest that this lack of convergence may reflect a relative shortage of interdisciplinary research which may in turn have negative outcomes in terms of research and policy.

The complexity of existing and likely impacts poses unique challenges to all aspects of society, from state to polity and economy. These in turn pose methodological challenges to academic practice, demanding the integration of macro and micro perspectives and pure and applied research. The paper argues that geographers can make significant contributions to this scholarship.

Methodology/Approach: In a review of recent research, the paper offers examples of how ‘wicked problems’ (from obesity to climate change) impose different burdens on different communities, which foregrounds the value of residents’ experiences. Findings: In an era of climate change, adaptive planning must incorporate ‘local knowledge’, which may return to older technologies and established practices. Research Implication: The paper argues that ‘local knowledge’ can be ‘powerful knowledge’, as discussed within educational research, which has important implications for school and college curricula. Originality/Value of paper: Amateur experts, citizen observatories and crowd sourced data can all play significant roles within communities facing new forms of risk and hazard.
