OMG. I cannot even begin to tell you how long this has been a work-in-progress. I started it . . . sometime in December, maybe? Or maybe later than that; I can't even remember now. But after finally focusing on it properly, it's done.
The main reason this took so long to work on was because I was missing two songs for two audios. I had an idea for one of them, but the other one was damn near impossible to work with. Anyway, how this mix works is something like this: I didn't include a song for every single audio that Eight & Charley had together; that would have just made a massive, twenty-eight song mix & I knew I'd never hold interest in such a huge project. So I picked what I felt were the most important audios for the two of them, & the development of their relationship. Even though it took forever to make & gave me quite a headache at times, I really enjoyed working on it. I adore Eight & Charley & they're completely deserving of a mix. They are indeed, an OTP to me. ♥
A final note before we get to the goodies now.

For a while now, I've been working on, or contemplating beginning several Doctor Who related mixes. I actually have a second one in the works & a a couple in the contemplation stage. But this is the first one to ever make it out of my head.
It's an odd concept to mix for, regeneration, but it's an aspect of the Doctor that fascinates me to some degree. I think it's because it's both an ending & a beginning - an almost paradoxical thought in some ways, an impossible thought, even, but I think that's why I love it.
So here we are: nine songs for nine regenerations of the Doctor in order from One to Nine. (after some internal debate, I decided not to include Ten or Ten v. 2.0 because a) there are plenty of mixes devoted to one or the other around the fandom, just ask about & b) I adhered to the official, classic definition of regeneration - the Doctor physically, fully changing his form from one body to another. Ten has yet to do that; he only has a duplicate of himself in an alternate universe. So neither of them were included. My apologies!) I tried to select songs that captured the mood of each regeneration, rather than the personality of each one. I think I succeeded for the most part, but perhaps not as well in other parts.
Now before we get to the music, I have one final note for all of you.

Title is from the song Stockings by Suzanne Vega, which helped inspire this fic to a certain extent.
The timeline for Eight, just to keep everything straight is post-TVM, pre-Storm Warning & for Sarah, pre-The Sarah Jane Adventures & School Reunion, but you can always disregard that for this story.

Okay! I know I talked about doing a John Sheppard mix a while back, but Daniel won out for right now!
So, this mix has been in the making for quite a while - about a month, but I've been wanting to do it for a lot longer. It's the first of two parts, with the first part covering the original film plus the first five seasons & the second part covering seasons six through ten & possibly Continuum & The Ark of Truth, depending on when I release the second part.
Admittedly, this wasn't the easiest mix to make - with ten years of canon to work through, I almost didn't do it at all! But then I decided to divide each part into half a decade & try & score the most important aspects of Daniel's life & career at the SGC.
The first part of my mix has a more dreamlike, whimsical, emotional feel to it compared to the second part - I always saw Daniel in both the film & in the first five seasons as a dreamy idealist - someone who thinks more with his heart, rather than his head. It's part of why I love him as much as I do, really, so I had the first part of my mix reflect that. Also, this mix isn't particularly shippy - I'm saving that for future mixes. ::laughs::
I'd also like to thank colonel_taisa for all of her help with lyric meta & for not screaming 'I DON'T CARE ELIZABETH, GO AWAY!' at me when I'd take up whole chats with meta-ing, as well as my darling lost_little_nat, for being supportive & encouraging, even though it's been a while since she's watched any SG-1! You girls are freaking TREASURES! ::hugs both of you::
& of course, I want to extend a big honkin' thanks to each & every Daniel fangirl who downloads this - it IS all for you guys anyway!

Yes, I DO seem to be making a lot of pretty fannish things lately, don't I? ::giggles:: But it's a twofold form of fun - I get to create pretty things & you all get some form of enjoyment out of my creations!
& with this post, I return to what I loved to make in my early days of fandom - soundtracks! This is one I've been working on for quite some time now, & I'm really excited to be finally sharing it with others! It's my first contribution to the Firefly fandom, namely a mix for who may be my favourite male member of Serenity's crew - Dr. Simon Tam. This mix, while easily something I could listen to for quite some time, is something that was NOT easy to make. Mostly because I had so few songs that fit just Simon, but so many that fit him & River. I knew that I wanted this mix to just be about him, so it was something of a task to find songs that worked best for him alone. Of course, that's not to say that River doesn't pop up at least ONCE in this mix - she does of course!
So this mix took about . . . what, a month or two to make? It's been through MULTIPLE revisions, massive re-workings, plus an irritating lack of inspiration for cover art. But it's finally here & I really hope that everyone who downloads it enjoys it, especially the Simon fangirls, for whom I made this mix especially for!
& a couple of techinical notes for the mix & a little note of thanks to those that helped me with the mix!
