An event that was reported on September 27, 2010 involved a teacher committing child abuse throug... more An event that was reported on September 27, 2010 involved a teacher committing child abuse through the means of corporal punishment—an act considered illegal—and was prosecuted in the process (see appendix). Through the lens of Psychology, this paper will attempt to briefly explain direct violence and its manifestation in the use of corporal punishment. The argument of this paper is that corporal punishment, as exhibited by the teacher, can in itself turn into a cycle of violence, perpetuated by the interaction of social learning and the subject’s environment.
