Atlanta Restaurants' Journal (original) (raw)
Hi... a few quick questions.... :)
So, I lived in ATL from 2001-2006 and am coming to visit for the first time since then. I'm staying with my mom in a hotel off Sidney Marcus to go to the Docufest.
Where, either around the Carter Center, or around Sidney Marcus area, has good cold take-out food? We're thinking of doing fancier stuff for lunch (cheaper) and then running out to the car and grabbing dinner from the cooler so we don't have to miss out on movies.
Where is great for lunch? So far, I'm thinking R. Thomas and Hot Pot, but I'd love to go somewhere nicer that has a decent lunch. Is Woodfire Grill as good as Kevin made it seem on TC? Are you all sick of hearing about Top Chef ATLiens? :)
Is there anywhere newish since 2006 that is a must-have?
I'd like to stay in the Decatur/Midtown/Downtown/Buckhead/Buford Hwy parts of town... maybe as far out as Perimeter?
Thanks! And, hey, if any of you will be at Docufest or are looking for something to do Saturday at 6 pm, check out "Crossing Borders;" (www.docufest.com; www.crossingbordersfilm.org). I'll be the awkward-looking one slightly dressed up, not really knowing who to talk to. My boss directed/produced/created the film and wants to send me as his representative, so to speak. Should be... interesting. Ha.
