Empowering the Chinese speaking LGBTIQ+ Communities in Australia and New Zeland.
About us
Australia & New Zealand Tongzhi Rainbow Alliance Inc. (ANTRA) is a community-based not-for-profit organisation incorporated under the NSW Associations Incorporation Act 2009 in December 2018 but we have been presenting ourselves in the young Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking LGBTQIA+ communities in 2013 in the form of social chat groups on WeChat, LINE, Facebook and various online forums. We have now over 1,000 members and followers throughout WeChat, LINE, Facebook, Weibo and Instagram. ANTRA is registered with the NSW Fair Trading in the hope of fostering community awareness and growth amongst Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking LGBTQIA+ self-identifying people. We have chosen Sydney to be our base and location of registration, we also represent a wider population of Mandarin- and Cantonese- speaking LGBTQIA+ communities in other Australian states and New Zealand. ANTRA is founded on the foundation to celebrate and embrace diversity, but most importantly, to become a point-of-contact and support for Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking LGBTQIA+ community members, particularly migrants, international students and other newly arrived diasporas.

Hi everyone, Our team is currently looking for talent, particularly people from intersecting backgrounds across the priority populations (First Nations, CALD background, LGBTQ+ communities), to participate in the film shooting for the national cervical screening campaign. We also need a person with a physical disability and one with an intellectual disability. Each talent will participate in a video shoot, still photography, and voice-over recording, and all of this will take up to half a day to finalise. Each talent will also receive $800 to compensate for their time and effort. If you know anyone in your network, please feel free to share this widely 😊 For full information and to submit your EOI, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gEDaSFjX #womenhealth #cervicalcancer #cervicalscreening #canwe #cancerprevention - ANTRA’s Public Statement on Cumberland City Council’s Book Ban We at the Australia & New Zealand Tongzhi Rainbow Alliance (ANTRA) are deeply concerned by the recent decision of the Cumberland City Council to ban books depicting same-sex/gender parents from public libraries. This decision starkly contradicts the principles of diversity and inclusion that Cumberland professes to uphold. Since 2018, ANTRA has collaborated with several culturally diverse local government areas, including Georges River Council, the City of Ryde, the City of Sydney, Randwick City Council, and the City of Parramatta. These partnerships have been built on mutual respect for diversity and a commitment to inclusivity, supporting our mission to ensure every individual feels safe and belongs. However, the recent actions by Cumberland City Council send a disconcerting message that only heteronormative families are valued. This is a regressive step that not only marginalises rainbow families but also undermines the cohesion and spirit of the community we all strive to build. We call on Cumberland City Council to: Immediately reverse the book ban and reinstate these essential resources. Reaffirm their commitment to inclusivity and diversity, ensuring public spaces like libraries are welcoming to all. Engage in open dialogue with multicultural and faith-based LGBTQIA+ communities to address and rectify these concerns. Join us in advocating for a community where everyone truly belongs, consistent with Cumberland’s own values. Let’s ensure our public institutions reflect the diverse realities of all families within our community.#DiversityAndInclusion #LGBTQIA #HumanRights #CommunityEngagement #ANTRA #CumberlandCityCouncil Cumberland City Council
- We would love to hear your experience! If you identify yourself as LGBTQIA+ are from a Chinese cultural background are currently living in Australia believe you have been forcibly displaced from your country due to gender, sexuality and/or variations of sex characteristics *By 'forcibly displaced', this study refers to individuals who self-identify as being compelled to leave their home country due to various reasons, including but not limited to discrimination, violence, harm, threats, persecution, or lack of access to basic rights. It does not necessarily mean that these individuals hold a refugee or asylum visa. You may still be able to visit friends and family occasionally, but you cannot return to your home country on a permanent basis.
