Vivid Sydney 2024 As the city of Sydney transformed into a vibrant canvas of light, music, and art during the iconic Vivid Sydney festival, I had the privilege of being a part of this extraordinary event as a volunteer. Working with Luigi Jobs & Casual Hands, they ensured that our experience as volunteers was nothing short of exceptional by looking after us with warm uniforms, food, drinks, breaks and general well-being and safety. Top-notch! Throughout the festival, I had the opportunity to work under several team leaders across different locations: Nikita Papastamatis, Jessie, Kylie, and Alex. Each one of these outstanding leaders turned us, a clueless bunch of volunteers, into efficient teams helping attendees to enjoy this incredible festival put by Destination NSW. I would like to extend a special mention to Nikita Papastamatis, with whom I had the pleasure of working for four shifts. His exceptional communication skills, calm demeanor, and receptiveness to us made him an enjoyable team lead to work with. Even under high-pressure nights of drone shows, Nikita had an infectious energy all while ensuring our team operated efficiently and safely. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nikita on his remarkable leadership and wish him all the best! While every shift was a unique and enriching experience, my favorite was undoubtedly the one at Barangaroo Reserve. Oh, how I love this spot! The quieter side of the harbour and I pray for it to stay the same. I got to spend elongated times at installations and artwork. Many of them carried deeper meanings than their outward appearances suggested. I wish more attendees would take the time to pause, read, and understand the stories behind these creations, as it would not only enhance their appreciation but also prevent any disrespectful or vandalistic behavior. Beyond the festival itself, one of the most rewarding aspects of my volunteering experience was the opportunity to meet and connect with a diverse group of individuals. Listening to their stories and sharing mine made me feel a little less lost in this new city that has finally started to feel like home to me and I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the incredible experience #DestinationNSW #CasualHands #Volunteering #Sydney- +6
