We were established in 2006 to strengthen the Australian Government’s long-term financial position. Today, we manage over $250 billion across six public asset funds. Our role is to generate strong, risk adjusted returns over the long term. We are a global investor and work closely with world leading investment organisations to access the best investment ideas. We are delighted to announce the promotion of six of our talented investment professionals into new Executive Directors roles within our new Investment Team structure. The Executive Director roles will be primarily focused on the design and hands-on execution of their sector strategies, leading their teams, and driving performance. They will work closely with the recently announced Managing Directors who will have a broader strategic role with a focus on leadership, team building and skills development, and our joined-up investing approach. The Future Fund has implemented a new Investment Team structure as it continues to adapt to the changing investment environment. The new structure reflects the maturity of our organisation and supports our unique investment philosophy, further strengthening our ability to deliver on our long-term investment mandate. The Investment Team is now organised under five pillars that reinforce the Future Fund’s unique culture and our joined-up whole-of-portfolio approach to investing. They are: Portfolio Design, Real Assets, Investment Capability and Intelligence, Portfolio Risk, and Responsible Investment and Listed Equities. The new structure will be overseen by a six-person Investment Leadership Team including our DCIO and five newly appointed Managing Directors, reporting to Chief Investment Officer, Ben Samild. Mr Samild, who was recently named in CIO’s Power 100 for 2024, described the new structure as ‘…an evolution, not a revolution’ in how the investment team is organised. “This structure will support our joined-up whole-of-portfolio process and provide greater opportunities for cross-team collaboration and the sharing of diverse perspectives to enrich our thinking and decision-making. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Don Casturo, Founding Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Quantix Commodities to one of our Lunch & Learn events. Don was joined by members of our Investment Team in a panel discussion exploring the landscape of commodities and the role of commodities futures markets, the energy transition and emissions markets. They also covered the Future Fund’s total portfolio views and how we began including commodities in our allocation. This was a great opportunity for our people to deepen their understanding about how the Fund’s Alternatives and Overlays teams work together and gain greater insight into our portfolio allocations. This Wednesday afternoon, our Melbourne and Sydney offices were alive with vibrant colours, delicious food, and music as we celebrated Diwali 2024, or ‘Festival of Lights.’ Staff wore traditional garments from their diverse cultural backgrounds and enjoyed an array of sweet and savoury traditional dishes. We also welcome two talented henna artists to our Melbourne office, where staff members, including our CEO, Raphael Arndt lined up to adorn their hands with intricate henna designs.
