- This month, the Australian Research Centre for Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS), in partnership with LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA), has released a comprehensive set of state and territory-level reports on LGBTQA+ mental health and suicidality. The reports, drawing on data from three major studies, provide state-by-state analyses, offering insights for policy and health reform. The findings identify both risk and protective factors, offering valuable insights and practical recommendations for reducing suicidality, self-harm, and psychological distress. - Switchboard Vic is offering ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills training) to staff and volunteers of LGBTIQA+ services. ASIST is a two-day workshop that teaches participants how to apply a model of suicidal intervention. Switchboard employs LGBTIQA+ trainers how are educated in an LGBTIQA+ specific ASIST model. ASIST takes 2 days to complete, and it is mandatory to attend both days to receive your certificate. - Transgender Parent Day is celebrated each year on the first Sunday of November to recognise the amazing contributions of transgender parents and parents with transgender children.
