We exist to save millions of lives through continuous diagnostic monitoring
About us
Nutromics is an Australian-born diagnostic company with a vision to create a world with zero preventable deaths due to a lack of continuous diagnostic monitoring. The Nutromics patch consists of DNA-based sensors coated onto the tips of microneedles. Our breakthrough technology unlocks continuous and real-time monitoring of multiple clinically relevant targets for some of the deadliest disease states in the world. Founded in 2017, to date we've raised US$27 million, were recognized as one of the Top 50 Australian inventions changing the world, were awarded Technology Platform Solution of the Year at the national iAwards, were part of the inaugural cohort of LaunchVic's 30x30 program, and were a Top 5 finalist in MedTech Innovator. We have teams across Australia and the US. Join us on our journey to save millions of lives through continuous diagnostic monitoring.

- For a period, David Bindloss did not imagine a marriage between his interest in computers and work that could make strides towards the future of healthcare. His career thus far exemplifies the transformative power of passion and perceiving work as more than just income. David’s story is a testament to the significance of finding meaningful work that goes beyond personal satisfaction. "I had this want to learn how things were built,” he reminisces. “Instead of just playing video games, I used to look at them and think, ‘How did they build this?’” David shares that it is a privilege to work at Nutromics, particularly due to the importance of the data generated from clinical studies. Properly representing and communicating this data is crucial for conveying the magnitude of Nutromics' achievements to the broader audience. As David reflects on two years with the company, he remains as passionate and excited about Nutromics' potential as he was on his first day. The other week, the CBC reported about a tragic incident involving Wendy Guimont, a piano teacher who lost her life due to kidney failure caused by a severe reaction to Vancomycin. Vancomycin, while effective at treating infections like staph and sepsis, requires extensive monitoring to avoid complications. Overdosing can result in vancomycin-induced kidney injury, with occurrence ranging from 10% in general patients and up to 45% in critical populations such as ICU patients. When vancomycin is dosed incorrectly it costs lives. In Wendy’s case, her vancomycin levels were not checked at the right time resulting in concentration levels that were too high and toxic. Blood levels of vancomycin must be kept within a narrow range in order to be effective and safe. As reported in the article, Wendy’s death was not due to “lack of staff” or “inappropriate ordering.” Rather, this tragedy was a result of inadequate diagnostics at inappropriate times. What could have been done to avoid this? Patients for Patient Safety Canada recommends patients ask questions about what medications are being administered and for what reason. Advances in continuous monitoring of vancomycin concentrations could help avoid these outcomes, thus saving lives. This year Diwali and Halloween were on the same day. A rare occasion, our team celebrated a joint Halloween and Diwali! We celebrated the Festival of Lights with candles and jack-o-lanterns while feasting on Indian foods and sweets. Everyone was invited to create colorful rangolis or paint their own pumpkin. Until next year! 🎃 🪔 . . .#halloween #diwali #culture #team #celebration #startup #diagnostics #wearable - Therese Ho is an Associate System Engineer at Nutromics.
