Women in Digital is a community organisation dedicated to connecting, educating and empowering women in digital. We offer events, mentoring and corporate services for organisations that value diversity and inclusion in technology and digital. We have collaborated with brands like Amazon, Salesforce, Microsoft, Cisco, Data#3 and Google through to smaller software startups on a range of initiatives such as WID events, team member recruitment, mentoring, and more. The 19th of November is a day we love to celebrate at WID, and today we honour the women leading the charge on #WomensEntrepreneurshipDay — building tech companies from the ground up, driving innovation, and creating impact. And it is also a day we celebrate #InternationalMensDay, and acknowledge the male allies who champion these entrepreneurs and the wider community, helping pave the way toward gender equity in tech. Encouragingly, the Women in Digital Discourse confirmed that our sector predominately offers great workplace flexibility, which helps women maintain productivity while juggling life’s demands. However, the results still tell us that more work is needed. The unfortunate reality, as our Discourse shows, is that women continue to confront a myriad of barriers in the workplace, from unequal pay to lack of encouragement to apply for senior roles. ❓ So what else did we learn? Part-time work is seen as a major roadblock to career progression (69%). Of those surveyed, 30% either disagreed or strongly disagreed that women in their workplace receive similar pay rises and financial opportunities as men. Half of those surveyed strongly agreed they could work from home when they needed to. Want to know more about what we discovered?
