Vladimir Yatsenko, studied Sanskrit Language and Literature and General Linguistics at St. Petersburg University, Russia, (1986-1991) and from 1991 continued his studies at Poona University and at BORI (Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute). His MA Thesis was dedicated to the studies of Panini’s Ashtadhyai (500 B.C), an ancient grammatical treatise on Sanskrit Grammar. At BORI he studied Nirukta of Yaska, a treatise on Etymology (600 B.C). He became a life-member of BORI. Later he received PhD from M.S. University Baroda, his thesis was “The Concept of Agni in the Rigveda in the light of Sri Aurobindo”.
In May 1993 he moved to Auroville, an international township, near Pondicherry, India, where he lived for nearly two decades, teaching Sanskrit Language and Literature in the schools of Auroville and to the groups of Aurovilians. He worked as a researcher at Savitri Bhavan in Auroville, Center dedicated to the studies of Sri Aurobindo’s Works and especially his Poem Savitri. He conducted several research projects, one of which was funded by the Government of India for three years: Vedic Imagery in Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri.
In 2007 together with Rod Hemsell and Dr. Rudolf Schmitz-Perrin he founded the University of Human Unity (UHU), educational project in Auroville, where he conducted numerous courses in Sanskrit Language, Philosophy of Language, Vedic Studies, Gita Studies, etc. He formulated the concept of Integral Paradigm of Knowledge based on the studies of Integral Yoga and the Upanishads. On the ground of this concept the whole project of UHU was formulated. Many international conferences and seminars were held by UHU in Auroville, one of them was International Congress ‘Spirituality Beyond Religions’.
From 2006 till 2012 Vladimir Yatsenko held his weekly sessions at Indian Psychology Institute, where the ancient scriptures of the Rigveda and the Upanishads were studied and interpreted in the light of Integral Yoga Psychology.
At the same time Vladimir Yatsenko held his online lectures and courses at the Gnostic Center, International Center for Integral Studies, Delhi. In 2009-2010 he created and facilitated MA Program in Vedic Studies in the light of Sri Aurobindo, accredited by IGNOU, Delhi.
He was closely connected with Dr. Kireet Joshi, the president of ICPR (Indian Council for Philosophical Research), and attended a number of seminars and conferences organized by ICPR presenting the Vedic Vision in the light of Sri Aurobindo.
He was closely working with Dr. Aster Patel, the head of CIC (Center of Indian Culture) in Auroville, and organizing a number of national and international conferences and seminars in Auroville.
In September 2016 he was invited to Auro University as a visiting professor in Sanskrit and Integral Studies. In May 2018 he was invited to give talks and lectures at Arogya School of Ayurveda at Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In September 2018 he was invited by Sri Aurobindo Society to Singapore as a key speaker to the Festival of Gita Jayanti, where he extended his stay and gave a serious of lectures and presentations on the Vedic Vision in the light of Sri Aurobindo.
In June 2018 and June 2019, he was invited as a speaker at the retreat organized by Sri Aurobindo Integral Life Center, SC, at Furman University, Greenville, USA.
From September 2019 he is a visiting member and from October 2021 a Director of Research at the Institute of Applied Research in Integral Studies at La Grace Sri Aurobindo Integral Life Center, SC, USA, conducting research and facilitating the courses and presentations in the Vedic and Integral Yoga Studies.
