The Amazing Race (original) (raw)

So no one's really commented on last week's episode. I'm finding I now dislike three teams (go Ray and Yolanda!) which makes the odds of me liking the final winner pretty low to say the least.

Taxigate was kind of lame - I'm guessing the dispatcher recognised Eric and Jeremy's voices and so assumed their reservation was a prank and cancelled it too (especially given the false name they gave!) I wish I knew what the rules were on cancelling other people's taxis - surely if that's allowed you could cancel other people's flight bookings as well and that would really screw the race up right there.

I did laugh at the crocodile farm - I hate crocodiles, so I'd have been terrible at walking over to get the clue. Ergh. I wonder if both of them had to go a certain distance, or whether one of them (theoretically me) could huddle near the edge calling encouragment. Or just frozen in fear, whichever's easiest.

The yield was odd. I don't like the yield concept, but surely if you're going to use it, use it on the team furthest behind you or the strongest competition. Don't waste it on pissing off someone just because you don't like them.

(And the Jo half of MoJo needs to learn that just because a woman's crying doesn't mean giving her a pep talk is a good idea. Just back off and let her finish crying, she'll be fine in about 5 minutes. Whereas if you start, you'll just end up arguing and ignoring the hourglass.)

Skydiving, meh. T-tow, whatever.

Termite mounds, pretty, long grass - anyone else go "I hope they've got good shoes on"? (Or in my husband's case - "I hope the hippies get bitten by a taipan. Damn, missed again.")

The detour was good - I was expecting the river to be quicker than the digeridoo, so that was a good surprise. And yay, Ray and Yolanda! Finally they win something!

And the ending was hilarious. Why in God's name was whichever hippie it is trying to go across the rocks?!? They deserved to lose. Wonder how they'll go without shoes, because that really does add a whole degree of difficulty. Especially should they go somewhere cold - I'm thinking Canada's looking good about now.

Still, getting near the end I guess. Still one non-elim to go - can the hippies make it 3/3 (and how many items of clothing will they have left if they do?)
