Christmas gifts (original) (raw)
I'm starting to think of Christmas gifts.
I'd like to give my mother a vegan cookbook. She's fine with veganism and vegan food and I think she'd be enthusiastic to start cooking more vegan meals for herself and for her husband, who has diabetes. I'm thinking of either Vegan Brunch or Now Vegan. They're both visually appealing books. I don't have Vegan Brunch myself but am told that a lot of the recipes take a lot of time or work to make - is this true? It's the only thing holding me back from choosing that book, because otherwise I've heard it's the kind of book you keep coming back to.
For those of you who are familiar with one or both of these books, any advice on which would make a good gift for someone unfamiliar with vegan cooking but likely to embrace the experience?
Has anyone had any good ideas re ethical Christmas presents?
I've also been looking through the Herbivore catalogue and at Etsy, and am planning to go to a couple of local craft markets in the next month. I'll also just be baking things.
Anyone know what the hell to buy for dads?? (Mine is a builder so already owns just about everything Bunnings stocks, *sigh*.)
