It also works as a warehouse for various kitchen goods. Besides, today, the historic metal, tin, jute and wood workshops has turned into a very potential opportunity for the economy of the country. But the present condition of the market is poor because of illegal constructions, extensive and unplanned commercial uses, lack of proper service systems, and polluted BURIGANGA and it's undeveloped riverside. We conducted a systematic review on the relationship between environmental factors and ASD in Bangladesh. Methods: This paper reviews the evidence on modifiable environmental factors that have been associated, in some studies, with ASD, including socio-demographic and physical environmental factors exposures during prenatal and postnatal periods. Besides, this review is restricted to human studies with at least 50 cases of ASD, having a valid comparison group, conducted within the past two decades. Moreover, literatures searched using three electronic databases (PubMed, Google Scholar, and Biomed Central) from August 2020 to January 2021, based on the PRISMA guidelines. Literatures screened by two distinguished reviewers (Khan MS; Tareq SM), and resolved differences by consensus and further discussion w...

The healthcare expenditures are largely unpre-dictable and usually have a negative impact on the poor households, while large expenditures have catastrophic impacts on household welfare. A sudden serious feature of the illness deceits in the critical susceptibility of the poor to an unexpected and unforeseen healthcare related vulnerabilities, increased indebtedness due to income loss, and even employment. Thus, the illness and its related caring expenditures and consequent impacts can severely disrupt living standards (3). A household

It involves routine and compulsory household maintenance tasks can create musculoskeletal disorder like Law back pain (LBP). Objective: The main objective of the study was to identify the effects of household activities on LBP among Bangladeshi housewives. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out among 255 respondents. At the Musculoskeletal department of Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), Savar, Dhaka. The questionnaire was designed according to Bangladesh perspectives regarding household activities that housewife do at home. Severity of pain was assessed using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and data ware collected using face to face interview. Results: Study found that household activities like cooking and chopping (p<.0001), washing dish and cloth (p<.0001), sweeping floor/cleaning toilet (p<.0001) were significantly associated with LBP. According to our knowledge, most of the available studies, that addressed the issue of malnutrition among under-five children, considered the categorical (dichotomous/polychotomous) outcome variables and applied logistic regression (binary/multinomial) to find their predictors. In this study malnutrition variable (i.e. outcome) is defined as the number of under-five malnourished children in a family, which is a non-negative count variable. The purposes of the study are (i) to demonstrate the applicability of the generalized Poisson regression (GPR) model as an alternative of other statistical methods and (ii) to find some predictors of this outcome variable. Methods: The data is extracted from the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2007. Briefly, this survey employs a nationally representative sample which is based on a two-stage stratified sample of ...

This study evaluated viewpoint of managers, supervisors and experts of Northern Provinces of Iran from the level of performance of Family physicians (FPs) in five basic task. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was performed in winter 2013. The study population includes managers, supervisors and experts at Health Network from the total of 47 cities in 3 provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan which were censuses selected. A researcher-made questionnaire was used for data gathering. In this questionnaire, personal characteristics and performance level of FPs from five main task of the Likert scale. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire were approved. FINDINGS: From the perspective of 557 managers, supervisors and experts of Staff in the study, the aver...

In this respect, initially six similar RC beams of dimensions were prepared. Three of which were strengthened with CFRP fabrics at the tensile side of the beams. Furthermore, a notch was cut at the center of the bottom surface for all of the studied beams. The notch was 15 mm deep and ran across the full width of tension side of the beams. The mentioned interfacial stresses could be calculated from strains measured using strain gauges mounted on the interface zone of the tensile concrete and the CFRP sheet. Based on the results obtained, it is shown that interfacial stresses developed between CFRP fabrics and RC beam had a noticeable effect on debonding failure mode of the latter. The load carrying capacity of CFRP strengthened RC specimens increased ~75% compared to that of the control RC beams. This was attributed to the enhancement of flexural mode of the former. Finally, finite element analysis was also utilized to verify the measured experimental results.

People reside permanently in Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh for service, business, and other purposes. The dwelling places required for these large number of people is very inadequate. As a result, the residential areas of Dhaka city are turning over-crowded & dirty day by day. It is possible to reduce the pressure on the population of Dhaka to a great extent by developing the surrounding area of Dhaka city in a planned way and establishing permanent residences for these vast populations. The total area of the project is 2008.08 acres. The area is low-lying and not suitable for agriculture. Dhaka city is growing fast towards the north, and for planned urbanization, it is necessary to extend the city. With this end in view, preparations have been made to establish the proposed satellite town. The projected population in the project is more than 6.00 lacs with a density of around 300 persons per acre. It is possible to reduce the pressure on the population of Dhaka city to a great extent by developing the surrounding area of Dhaka in a planned way and establishing permanent residential accommodation for the vast population.
