Azula spends time in one of the air temples and later in the fic she meets the original fire benders and learn from them because her bending failed.

It was tradition to send the dead to the ocean instead of burying them in the snow. For safety the elders had said. So the animals would not unearth the remains; so that the element that gave them life could carry them out and eventually over to the next. Still, she damned the long standing tradition because she really wanted him to stay at home, where he belonged.

So last month, me and my friend were walking home from school, and I bought up avatar. Now, she had heard me ramble on about my beloved TV show before, considering she's my best friend and I'm a fangirl, and I kept trying to convince her to watch it. I would try to describe the guise of the show, the context, the setting. I would try everything to get her to watch it. But she wouldn't. That is, until one day, I finally convinced her.
To be honest, she wasn't very gung-ho on the show in the first place, considering it was a kids show (even though we're only 13). I guess she got tired of me bringing it up as much as possible, so she promised she'd start to watch it within a month. During this time period, I sent her pictures on of all the characters and described their personalities. I've made sure she knows that the first season isn't as good as the others. I did everything I could to convince her that it was an amazing show with spectacular character development, beautiful animation and deeper aspects than any other Nickelodeon aired show, she still didn't seem very interested. And that's part of why it was so difficult.
Now, I watch lots of avatar AMVs and MEPs, and there are lots of amazing ones out there. If I could just show her one of those, with all its avatar epicness packed into a 3 minute video, I am sure she would want to watch the show. But the problem is, there's spoilers. Major spoilers. So I cant let her watch those videos.
Another problem isnt really to do with not being able to show her, but more to do with me being a major Zuko fangirl. I was sending her pictures and descriptions of the character, and I needed to send her a picture of Zuko with his ponytail hairstyle and a scowl on his face, and I needed to call him the villain. That honestly made me feel pretty bad, but I still sent it to her.
One of my other major problems is my ships. I ship Zutara, but I can't even tell her what zutara is. If I tell her it's Zuko and Katara, she'll think I'm a messed up human because I ship the angry ponytail guy with lovely Katara. And I can't tell her why I think they're so perfect together, because that would give away spoilers as well. So I just need to tell her that I don't ship 2/3 of the canon ships (I ship sukka, if anyone was wondering), and leave it to her to figure out what I ship and don't ship.
So, it's been a month. And guess what? My friend still hasn't watched avatar. She has promised me she'll watch it this month, and I'm just clinging to the hope that she actually will. I'm pretty sure that if she knew how annoying this is for me that I can't even tell her who I ship or who my favourite character is, she would get how much I love this show and be convinced to watch it, but she doesn't get it. Sadly, I will just have to wait and see if she watches Avatar or not. To be honest, I'll probably have rewatched the whole show by the time she gets onto S2, but that's life. Meh.
