I have gone really well so far and sold over the first-time goal that was set for me by just selling to friends and family.I also have a territory so I can do the door-to-door thing (because I have just moved to a new town and don't really know enough people to keep my sales up otherwise), but I must admit that I have been putting it off because I am a little intimidated by it even though I really want to do it.I'm not sure where to begin or what to say to people.So my question to you guys is, Have any of you done the door-to-door thing and if so can you give me a couple of hints?-Ideas on how to get people interested and buying-How to present and introduce myself-What to say to people-etc?Any help would be appreciated.This has also been cross posted so I'm very sorry if you see this post more than once. |

**11:02 pm - new girl here**Hi - my name is Melanie, I'm 28 and in Kirkland, WA. I'm new to Avon, just starting up - in fact, I don't even have my kit yet. But wanted to say HI. My mom used to sell Avon when I was a kid - and she's taken it up again. I was looking through a magazine she sent me (she lives in Hawaii) and have found they sell pretty cool stuff in there nowadays. So I decided to sell Avon under her since it seems reps aren't readily accessible in the area I live in - I live in WA state near to but not quite in Seattle. (Hey, there's a need I'm happy to fulfill.) I've sold Tupperware before for 2 years and really enjoyed that - but it was way to bulky to lug around. So I'm not new to the independent sales arena. Is Avon mostly just catalog sales - or do people rely on in-home parties too? (Like Tupperware is famous for.) I would really like to stick with mostly catalog sales. Anyway, more about me - I work full time at a veterinary hospital, and I'll be starting up with school again in a couple weeks hopefully (after a 4 year hiatus!). I'm hoping to be a Dental Hygienist in another 4 years. Wearing scrubs all the time - for both the veterinary hosp and eventually the dental jobs has really taken it's toll on my dressing up/wearing makeup/looking good routine. I've always loved makeup, and all that girly stuff - but I've just not really had a need for it over the past year and a half. So I'm hoping Avon will help me with that also. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to offer to a newbie wanting to start off on the right foot? How do you guys advertise? If you put your number out there - do you ever worry about prank calls or stalkers (that totally scares me)? Does Avon offer business cards or do you go out and make your own? 07:41 pm - Well, it was a good day!I had a very busy day today....Went with one of my Leadership Reps. to sign up a new Rep.! That is always exciting. Then she and I went for a bite to eat - I got my nails done! Back to my beautiful French manicure that I love for spring and summer! :)Then I went out looking for rental places to get ideas on space size and rent for my LABC (Licensed AVON Beauty Ctr.) that is one of my goals for the latter of this year! I looked at 2 places on great busy routes...just a place to sell AVON and offer the opportunity to potential new Reps. I am outgrowing my office in the house...with my stock and business in general. :) So - That was a lot of fun.I have great dreams and AVON will get me there! It has gotten me so far in just one year it is unbelievable to me! :) I continue to love every minute of it !Well - that was my day - tomorrow I will be visiting many of my business that stock up and give out brochures for me! :) So - hope everyone else had a productive day too!"AVON, I love what I do...you should too!"~ JacquelineCurrent Mood: accomplishedCurrent Music: My kitty Zona meowing.... :) |

07:59 pm - Frustrated.....Ok so yesterday I got an email stating that "they" received my order. I processed my order last week and only now I'm getting a confirmation number and shiz. Sorry but I'm a little confused/pissed. Then today I get another email stating that it shipped out by my "normal delivery company"...and that would be.>???? It also states that if I don't receive it allow an additional 24 hours from my initial delivery to report missing boxes. And my initial delivery date is....??? ok fine whateva...at least it shipped, right?My other question is...they say if you do your orders on line then you receive a 50% earnings... and that would be?????????????? how does that work? I'm sorry, if I seem to be asking stupid question..but I'm so confused and ready to give up on this avon thingy.........All my customers (is that what they're called??) are asking when their order will be coming in ..blah, blah, blah.....and I feel kinda embarrassed cause it's my first order and it's taking FOREVER!!!! They're even asking for their totals so they can pay for it already..ugh!!!! I don't know what to do. If I give them their order before it even arrives do I include the shipping fee??????? So if their order is 35 bucks I add another 16% to that which comes out to....5.06 add that to 35 bucks..it comes out to $40.06 right?? Please explain this to me...I really don't wanna call my District Sales Manager. I feel she's too busy to even bother with my silly and easy to answer questions. Please help. 12:27 am - All in all a half and half day....Today was a hard start. My uncle's funeral was this morning. The hardest part was the church mass w/ all my cousins and family. I feel so deeply for them. Although they are all adults loosing there father...I was 12 when I lost mine...they were all there for me then and I was going to be there for them now. It was very hard. One of my cousins husbands is a singer and he sang the most beautiful song. I cried so hard - everyone did. It was a good cry though.Then 3 of my cousins went up and did a eulogy. It was very nice and heart wrenching at the same time. So - all and all it was a hard morning. Very emotionally draining. The cemetery was difficult too of course. It was raining...such a typical scene for a funeral. After we went to my cousins house for a bit ....I just needed to get home. I felt so exhausted. These things take so much out of me. I have a hard time dealing with death or loss in any form. So I got home and slept for 3 hours!!! I only do something like that during the day when I am emotionally spent.In other news...I finally saw Bruce Almighty tonight. It was very funny, and such a cute movie. I just love Jim Carey - he's a crazy man! So that brightened my night up!So - tomorrow will be a busy day - I have to do lots of follow up calls and networking as well. So I will be here in the office in the morning and out and about in the afternoon! :)I hope everyone is having a great week so far! 10:20 am - Hello again !!! :)So, it's been a pretty good couple of days - aside from my uncle passing away the other night. He wasn't a very good person at all...but I will grieve for him and his family. I am close w/ all my cousins so it will be hard today at the wake and tomorrow at the funeral. I pray for him and them.Everything else has been very good though. Easter was wonderful! We all had a great time at my sisters w/ all the kids and all. I fianally saw "FInding Nemo" it was adorable and OMG was Ellen Degenerous sooo funy as Dory...I laughed until until it hurt! :) So that was fun, my little 5 yr old niece and I snuggled on the couch and watched it! :) She's alittle peach that one.Well - AVON is doing wonderful as always! :) My Leadership Reps under me are just growing and growing their Unit's! :) IT's a very exciting time! I also got a TON of brochures of AVON, MARK & beComing out on Saturday! :) Went about a 8 mile radius around my neighborhoods where I live - I do this every campaign! All together w/ all three brochures - about 480 books total! :)I also spoke to about 6 people this weekend about the AVON & MARK opportunity! A few seemed extremely interested...so I will be waiting to hear from them and follow up w/ them tomorrow as well! :)AVON, I love what I do...you should too!~ JacquelineAVON Ind.
