All About Us

Awesome Layouts is a layout rating community for web and graphic designs of livejournal. Users come here to get honest critiques and advice on their designs, and to in turn give advice to beginners. In order to be allowed to vote on other layouts, you must score a grade of SEVEN (7) or HIGHER. If you score lower than a seven, you are allowed to apply again. The layout you apply with must be your OWN work. If you are caught stealing codes, overrides, or graphics from other designers, we will have no choice but to ban you, so please be creative and design your own layouts. For further information, please see the community userinfo.

The Rules of AL

1. When applying, please put "new" in your subject. Make sure to tell us if you have a free or paid account so we can rate you accordingly. Include other things we ought to know, such as browser compatibility, resolutions, that sort of thing!

2. Please do not apply with a default generator layout with tweaked colours and a background. You will automatically be rejected.

3. In order to be accepted, you must have an average of 7 or higher. 10s are for perfect layouts with no flaws and are not to be given out lightly.

4. Do not change your layout at ALL or remove it until you've been stamped. In some cases you will be allowed to request to be stamped out early, but do not do this frequently or we will not allow you to re-apply.

5. If you have not received a stamp after 3 days/15 votes, you can ask for a stamp at AL-Maintenance. Do not bother moderators in their personal journals.

6. Awesome Layouts is NOT a layout request board, an archive of free layouts, or a help community (unless you've been stamped of course). If you are looking for these things, there are links in the userinfo to communities that can help you. Stamped members are both allowed and encouraged to ask for design tips and advice.

7. The layout, it's images, codes, overrides, concepts, must all be created by you. If you are caught stealing you will be banned. Being awesome is not achieved by being a thief!

8. Do not argue with your grades or be rude to other members. Stamped members are NOT required to have pretty layouts up, so if you get bitchy and lash out at their journals appearance just because you're not getting the grades you want, we will not hesitate to ban you.

9. If you are rejected, you are welcome to apply again, but it must be a new layout. You must wait atleast seven days before applying again. Give yourself time to improve!

10. Any other questions or problems not addressed in the rules or userinfo? Ask a mod. We're here to help!

WHEN RATING OTHER MEMBERS: Please put your grade (from 1-10, 10 being the highest) in the subject line of the comment. Members not adhering to this rule might have membership revoked and have to reapply to the community. It doesn’t matter whether you're mean or nice... but be honest and make sure you give a reason for your decision!
