Summary: Rose realises she’s just like all the Doctor’s previous companions, another person he’s left behind.

‘I’m a former companion,’ Rose thought. ‘Just like Sarah Jane, and Jack, and even Martha. We’re the ones who used to share the Doctor’s travels, us and who knows how many others before.’

She’d never asked about previous companions, hadn’t really wanted to know, especially after meeting Sarah Jane, when she’d started to wonder whether getting left behind might someday be her fate. She hadn’t wanted to think about eventually being too old to keep up with the Doctor, hadn’t wanted to consider the possibility of being replaced.

But Donna is the Doctor’s companion now. Rose is just another used-to-be.
