Online shopping websites, social media sites and blogs have abundance of such reviews, which are used by other customers for their future decisions of shopping from a particular website. There are many factors that affect the user’s decision to shop online, but the reviews written by users are not specific from a single perspective. Sentiment classification of reviews facilitates in understanding the opinions of the users and identifying which aspect affects the user’s choice of online shopping. There is also a need of effective visual analysis of the user’s opinions as they may impact the business organizations significantly and since the need of understanding the large-scale information is very important for future users and businesses; the need to visualize text has gained importance. Due to unstructured and high dimensional nature of the large text corpora, it is challenging to design effective and self explanatory visual metaphors. In this paper, the author has used word clouds to represent the opinions of the customers, identified from their reviews posted online. The opinion words are classified into positive or negatively opinioned words and further mapped into word cloud to understand which features effect the online shoppers most while using online shopping.

Each of the sensor nodes is capable of sensing, processing, and transmitting environmental information. Since the sensor nodes are equipped with battery having limited energy, energy efficient information processing is of critical importance. The important issues of wireless sensor networks (WSNs includes Coverage-preserving and lifetime-durability. Any coverage hole in a network is not feasible, so to provide full sensing coverage in a security-sensitive area is necessary in many practical applications such as security surveillances or military investigations. The routing protocols were proposed to ensure reliable multi-hop communication, in order to increase lifetime and Quality of Service (QoS) of wireless sensor networks.

With this necessity, an analysis-based Decision Support System (DSS) is proposed for the prediction of the students’ performance using ensemble methods. Nowadays ensemble methods becoming more popular in classification and prediction. In ensemble-based methods, a set of classifiers are used to construct a single composite classifier and the decisions of the individual classifiers are combined using some combination rules to classify the new instances. We proposed an ensemble-based Decision Support System (DSS) for the prediction of students’ performance particularly in the engineering discipline.

It is becoming ubiquitous, but still there are issues in concern with its performance and efficiency. It offers high scalability and fault tolerance in large scale data processing, but gives low efficiency. Hence, how to enhance efficiency with high level of scalability and fault tolerance is a major challenge. The efficiency problem, especially I/O costs can be addressed in two ways: by optimizing I/O operations in Map-Reduce and by utilizing the features of modern hardware such as SSD (Solid State Disk) that can help in minimizing computations in Map-Reduce considerably. This paper explores various existing data layout structures that can improve the efficiency of map-reduce operations and help in overcoming its pitfalls.

WSN consists of spatially distributed autonomous sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants and to cooperatively pass their data through the network to a main location. To consider energy balancing for nodes is an important factor in wireless sensor networks. Many routing, power management and data dissemination protocols have been specifically designed for WSNs where energy consumption is an essential design issue. Owing to the limited resources available for sensor nodes, designing energy- efficient routing mechanism to prolong the overall network lifetime has become one of the most important technologies in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The routing protocols for WSN can be classified in three main categories: data centric, hierarchical and location based. In this paper, we have proposed a cluster base...

Hadoop MapReduce framework is extensively used in big data analytics and business-intelligence applications. The analytic queries executed by these applications often include multiple ad hoc queries and aggregate queries with some selection predicates. The cost of executing these queries grows incredibly as the size of dataset grows. The most effective strategy to improve query performance in such applications is to process only relevant data keeping irrelevant data aside, which can be done using index structures. This paper is an attempt to improve query performance by avoiding full scans on data files. The algorithms used in this paper create inverted indexes on HDFS input splits. We show how query processing in MR jobs can benefit in terms of performance by employing these custom inverted indexes. The experiments demonstrate that queries executed using indexed data execute 1.5x faster than the traditional queries.

Smartphones are capable to support immense range of complicated and intensive applications results shortened power capability and fewer performance. Mobile cloud computing is the newly rising paradigm integrates the features of cloud computing and mobile computing to beat the constraints of mobile devices. Mobile cloud computing employs computational offloading that migrates the computations from mobile devices to remote servers. In this paper, a novel model is proposed for dynamic task offloading to attain the energy optimization and better performance for mobile applications in the cloud environment. The paper proposed an optimum offloading algorithm by introducing new criteria such as benchmarking for offloading decision making. It also supports the concept of partitioning to divide the computing problem into various sub-problems. These sub-problems can be executed parallelly on mobile device and cloud. Performance evaluation results proved that the proposed model can reduce around 20% to 53% energy for low complexity problems and up to 98% for high complexity problems.

Map-Reduce, an emerging distributed computing paradig m, is known as a promising architecture for big data analytics on commodity hardware. Map-Reduce, and its open source implementation Hadoop, have been extensively accepted by several co mpanies due to their salient features such as scalability, elasticity, fault-tolerance and flexibility to handle big data. Ho wever, these benefits entail a considerable performance sacrifice. The performance of a Map-Reduce application depends on various factors including the size of the input data set, cluster resource settings etc. A clear understanding of the factors that affect Map-Reduce application performance and the cost associated with those factors is required. Sensor nodes are inexpensive and portable devices with some constraints of limited processing power and energy resources. Sensor nodes are deployed in the form of network to collect information from the environment, after collecting data they process this data and transmit the processed data to the user. As sensor devices are battery driven therefore power conservation is important in order to extend the life time of the sensor network. Nowadays, Clustering in wireless sensor network, which enables a group of sensors to work closely to form a single cluster head, has been a flourishing research field. When sensor nodes forward their data to base station (BS) via cluster heads, it may happen that the cluster heads closer to the base station are burdened with heavy relay traffic and which may results into early death of the node, leaving areas of the network uncovered and network partition. To address the problem, we are proposing an event driven redundant data elimination system which uses innetwork data processing before transferring data to cluster head (CH) or sink (BS). Our simulation results shows that our data reporting system along with routing scheme reduces the transmission loss and increase the network life time.

These sensor nodes have limited transmission range, processing and storage capabilities as well as their energy resources. Routing protocols for wireless sensor networks are responsible for maintaining the energy efficient paths in the network and have to ensure extended network lifetime. In this paper, we propose and analyze a new approach of cluster head selection by a homogeneous sensor node (having same initial energy) in wireless sensor network, which involves choosing the cluster head which lies closest to the midpoint of the base station and the sensor node. Our proposed routing algorithm is related with energy and distance factors of each nodes. This scheme is then compared with the traditional LEACH protocol which involves selecting the cluster head which is nearest to the particular node. We conclude that the proposed protocol effectively extends the network lifetime with less consumption of energy in the network.
