LeFedUp with LeThree (original) (raw)
Are you upset with the new All-Star game format? Doesn’t matter, because LeBron James has spoken. His exact quote being: “Our game, there’s a lot of f—ing 3s being shot. So it’s a bigger conversation than just the All-Star Game”. So there’s some things here to unpack, none of them fantasy related, so I’ll keep my neutral take very short; basically yes, he has a point, threes have been a huge part of the NBA diet for almost 15 years now (maybe 10ish) with the low post game being almost abandoned. Picks, Rolls, Pops, rinse and repeat.
That being said, I have no idea what this has to do with the All Star game and the different format, so whatever. Maybe players can take it more seriously if they don’t think it’s serious, but I’m not demanding that. If players are going to complain about the format change though, they should realize the NBA and Adam Silver will keep changing the format because of the players not caring.
Anyways, in what should have been in our top headlines were Steph Curry not doing Steph Curry like things and KAT’s return home to the Twin City. Or is it Cities? I mean, there’s two, is there not? Minneapolis Uno and Minneapolis Part Deux? No idea where the Spanish and French came from, so uh yeah.
Not only did the Warriors lose by 51 points last night against the Grizzlies (their fifth worst loss in history), but Steph Curry was held without a field goal in 24 points, garnering just 2 points and three rebounds on 0-for-7 shooting. The 51 point loss may have had something to do with that. He was -41 +/- if you were curious.
Fun (if you’re not a Warriors fan) fact! Did you know that the last time Steph was held without a field goal was 2018 where he only played for two minutes. 2012 was the other year, if you were curious, it happened twice, on March 11th when he played nine minutes and in February where he just played three seconds.
All that was pretty much a paragraph that could have said Steph has been very good and last was a very bad game. Anyways, he’s still awesome, but yeah, he is also 36-years-old, so I’ll just leave it at that.
Karl-Anthony Towns went HAM in his return to Minny, checking out last night with 32 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists. While I won’t revisit the trade, I will say that this new CBA has really found a way to affect the game in a negative manner without anyone understanding how. Who wants to talk about aprons and the European textile industry and its effects on the bourgeoisie during the late middle ages?
Like yeah, it’s clear the Knicks have won this trade (so far), but the Timberwolves retain a bit more flexibility when Randle comes off the books. Yeah, that’s some penny-pinching stuff for sure, but it’s also about having roster flexibility.
Victor Wembanyama continues to do amazing things, dropping 42 points on the Hawks in 37 minutes. He also had 4 blocks, 5 assists and 2 steals and just 6 rebounds.
And if you’re on KLAW-WATCH 2024, Kawhi Leonard is now participating in full contact practice and my feeling that he’d be back around the Holidays is proving ever so prescient. Just like me buying copious amounts of bourbon when he gets injured again in a few months.
