Thrilled to have participated in a enlightening panel at #WindEnergyHamburg, where we discussed the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of offshore wind in emerging markets. Within emerging markets, LATAM holds immense potential for renewable energy, especially in offshore wind. However, several challenges must be addressed, including regulatory and policy frameworks, infrastructure and technology development, as well as meaningful local community engagement. It was a fantastic opportunity to discuss strategies for overcoming these challenges and unlocking the offshore wind potential in LATAM. Grateful to have contributed to such an inspiring session alongside insightful and engaging panelists. Thanks to Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC)), GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition, and PAVANA GmbH for their support. Special thanks to Ana Laura Flores Garcia García and Marianella B. for the inspiring discussions.#OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #EmergingMarkets #WindEnergyHAmburg ##WomeninEnergy - Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) reposted this

🚨 New York State Joins the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA)! 🔍 Ben Backwell, CEO of Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) said: “The growth of the Global Offshore Wind Alliance demonstrates the vital role offshore wind plays in the energy transition and the importance of collaboration to delivering on the world’s renewable energy ambitions. The addition of the State of New York to the Alliance brings another strong voice and invaluable expertise to the group. The US offshore wind industry is a key part of the energy transition’s acceleration this decade, and we look forward to supporting the State of New York’s efforts in making their offshore wind sector an example for the rest of the world to follow” 💥 He also highlighted GWEC’s research findings: “GWEC’s research suggests the world could deliver GOWA’s target of 380 GW of offshore wind by 2030, but only with the right frameworks in place. The collaborative work of the Alliance is fundamental to establishing and expanding this framework around the world and ensuring offshore wind delivers on its potential as a key tool of the energy transition.” 💻 For more information, read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/eKQri8gt - 👷♀️ In 2019, our global gender survey found the share of women in the wind energy sector across different parts of the world: 🌍 Africa: 8% 🌏 Asia-Pacific: 15% 🌎 Latin America and Caribbean: 19% 🌍 Europe & North America: 26% While Europe and North America take the lead with women in wind, there's still a lot of work to do to ensure the global south and the rest of the globe acclimate much better gender ratios. That is why GWEC is working with IRENA on the next Global Gender Survey, so we can review the progress that has been made and continue to focus on building a diverse workforce. This year's findings will provide the basis for a new edition of Renewable Energy: A Gender Perspective Report. This report will be a vital tool in understanding gender dynamics within our industry and shaping future policies and initiatives to promote gender equality and diversity. 🔦 Who Can Participate? Open to ALL individuals and organizations in the renewable energy sector and related industries! 🚨 Make your voice heard and help progress women in the decade of change: https://lnkd.in/eJhNNQJs💼 Organized by International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) supported by Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC)'s WIW Global Leadership Program and Progress Partner Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation (SWECO).

🚀 Day 3 highlights at GWEC's Global Markets Theatre at WindEnergy Hamburg! 💥 During the opening, we were joined by Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC)'s CCO, Dylan Mitchell, our amazing Women In Wind Delegation and Hamburg + Messe's Business Unit Director for Maritime and Technology Fairs & Exhibitions Claus Ulrich Selbach! 🇺🇸 Our US session underlined a special focus on the impact of the IRA on offshore wind as well as the opportunities around floating offshore wind on the west coast and gulf of Maine. 📊 The supply chain session included tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers from around the globe to progress logistical discussions ahead of GWEC's next meeting in Incheon at the APAC Wind Energy Summit. 🇮🇳 India's session taught us that the country is well on track to meet its ambitious wind power development goals, supported by growing investments from the central government, private entrepreneurs, and various state-level governments aiming to turn the country into a renewable energy powerhouse. Several challenges remain, with supply chain security concerns and overwhelming regulatory frameworks being major concerns, as there is a strong focus on domestic production to minimize geopolitical risks. In this context, foreign collaboration will be crucial for achieving India's energy ambitions and positioning the country as a regional hub for wind industry growth, with the immediate priority of strengthening the country's onshore capabilities. Thank you to everyone who participated! 🔍 Visit the Global Markets Theatre while you're at WindEnergy Hamburg, check out the final day agenda here: https://lnkd.in/epv_5EvR - 🚀 Day 2 highlights from GWEC's Global Markets Theatre at WindEnergy Hamburg! 💥 Supply chains were a key driver of today's talks. Mr Girish Tanti, Executive Vice Chairman Suzlon Group, Vice Chair GWEC India and Chair of the Supply Chain Forum for Manufacturers gave a presentation alongside Heiko Mützelburg, CEO, Titan Wind Energy Germany where they both articulated the challenges of meeting targets and what it takes to remain relevant in all regions of the world. ➡️ Another jam packed CEO panel, saw a discussion on the current state and challenges of the offshore wind supply chain, focusing on the need for strategic collaboration between developers, suppliers, and governments to address capacity gaps and fulfil global decarbonization targets. The participants highlighted the increasing risks posed by supply shortages, emphasizing the need to balance the demands of highly innovative new developments with the maintenance of existing projects, where established components are becoming harder to source. They stressed the importance of managing uncertainties in supply chain forecasts and future demand. The challenges faced by SMEs, including changing project specifications and technological barriers, were also a major point of discussion. The discussion stressed that a balance between local and global supply chains, affordability, and societal support is essential for the industry's sustainable growth. 🇨🇳 We had an insight into China's role in the global market place. China's growing influence in the global wind energy market highlights the importance of international cooperation in fostering innovation and ensuring supply chain resilience. Panelists emphasized that isolating Chinese manufacturers would not only hinder the energy transition but also harm both Western and global efforts, as technological advancements and cost reductions increasingly rely on diverse partnerships and cooperation . Thus, the consensus is clear: global collaboration, not protectionism, is essential to meet ambitious targets and unlock the full potential of the industry.
