At the TIME Davos Dinner where I spoke and learned unforgettable things about the revolution ahead through AI. Even I who am a great protagonist for technology-enabled accelerated economic growth and development for Africa, realized how little my vision reaches on the prospects. In my speech and toast I reiterated my constant refrain that Africa’s 3 GameChangers are Women, Young People and Technology will rapidly transform our continent within this century. I then raised a toast to Women who are leading our work School of Politics Policy and Governance to build the preeminent GameChangers of all- ethical, competent and capable political and public leaders! This new genre of political and public leaders that we are training across Africa will lead for the common good of our people and unlock the potentials in the three forces of - women, young people and technology- for a historic transformation of our continent. Therein lies our Hope! It is why we’re never giving up to the end. My talk resonated deeply with the audience who themselves caught on Hope for our continent. In the words of Steve Jobs, “we shall keep reaching…… we shall not settle” until Africa claims the 21st Century! ✍🏾✍🏾✍🏾 -

Women Political Leaders (WPL) is honoured to announce the official launch of 2024 #RepresentationMatters report, which showcases the correlation between women’s political representation and economic progress. Initiated by WPL, the joint programme with the Oliver Wyman Forum and The World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law is an essential piece of evidence. Key insights from the report include: - Legal rights and representation matter: Data spanning 165 countries reveals a statistically significant link between greater representation of women in political decision-making and stronger economic rights. - Addressing barriers is critical: Women currently enjoy less than two-thirds of the legal rights available to men, limiting their full participation in the economy. - Collaboration is the key to change: Governments, political parties, and the private sector must work together to eliminate legal inequities and societal biases. The findings demonstrate that ensuring equality between women and men in leadership is essential not just for fairness, but for achieving global economic growth. - When women lead, policies don’t just change, they improve lives. As Marlene Malahoo Forte, KC, MP, Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs; Member of Parliament, Jamaica highlights, Jamaica’s rising representation shows that more women at the table means smarter, more impactful decisions. #RepresentationMatters
- #RepresentationMatters —not just because it’s right, but because it’s smart. In this video, Tea Trumbic, Manager of The World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law, highlights the evidence: when women are in power, decisions become fairer, more equitable, and better for everyone in society, not just women. “We need representation across all fields: government, private sector, and international organisations, to achieve real progress,” says Trumbic, calling on us all to amplify this message and the economic benefits proven in the Representation Matters report. Together, let’s share the evidence and champion the transformative impact of women in leadership.
