Why another Beatles community on LJ?: We started this community because we love the intelligent discussions on johnheartpaul but we wanted there to be a place where we could discuss all the Beatles. What's a "Beatle Couch?": We're a bunch of friends just hanging out on a couch talking about the Beatles. And sometimes, we may "put a Beatle on the couch." What do we talk about here?: Anything goes, so long as it's related to the Beatles: news, songs, movies, pictures, quotes, fanfic. Obviously, we focus on the Beatles themselves, but we can also discuss wives, girlfriends, roadies, managers, and of course, George Martin. | I get emailed jokes everyday, and I got this one today.It's not really that funny, but it's cute, I guess. :]professor of clinical psychology at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, included a lecture on crowd psychology in his annual course. To illustrate mass hysteria, he regularly showed TV news footage of teenage crowds greeting the Beatles at the local airport in the 1960's. One year, when he ran the footage, he heard squeals and bursts of laughter from his students. When the film ended he asked what had caused the hilarity. Replied one student, "We recognized some of our mothers!":D♥ | |

| From icLiverpoolNumber one for Harrison at lastJul 31 2006Daily PostOFFICIAL chart records are being changed to make former Beatle George Harrison's first solo album, All Things Must Pass, a No 1 record.Postal workers, who were engaged in a strike in 1971 at the time of the triple album's release, are being blamed for creating havoc with official returns which robbed Harrison of the No 1 slot.Instead, it only got as high as No 4, meaning Harrison, who died of lung cancer in 2001, never had a solo UK No 1 album.During the eight weeks between February 6 and March 27, 1971, Simon and Garfunkel were in the top slot with Bridge Over Troubled Water.Darren Haynes, of The Official UK Charts Company, said: "These days, barcodes and computers are used but, in 1971, record shops had to fill in 'diaries' of all sales and send them by post to the chart compiler."For those weeks in 1971, the strike resulted in no official album charts being included in Record Retailer, the official music business chart magazine."Historians let the last valid chart run across the missing weeks, meaning Simon and Garfunkel were given another eight weeks at the top but now All Things Must Pass has taken its rightful place as a No 1 record for the full eight-week period."George's widow, Olivia, said: " He'd love that it reached No 1 in the country in which he lived."The entry has now been changed in the official Guinness Book of British Hit Singles and Albums. | |
