It is seen and conceived, according to the diversity of its variegated inhabitants, animals and flora. Thus, it can never be defined, as all inhabitants are mortal and their unique experience, generally, fades away with the gallop of Time. Reality is a continuous transformative flow, to be explored and experienced by mortal/ephemeral sentient beings... Reality may appear solely according to a particular modus vivendi, biography and belief system of one's unique experience. Due to its inherent nature, Reality/Nature escapes any theological, scientific, philosophical, metaphorical or semantic rationale/ systematization. In the Eye of Reuven Shezen, an autodidact and an autist artist, perspective is extremely playful. Seemingly, everything appears, following the presence of the artist's mind and instantaneous will. However, as following a command of an invisible trickster, forms and colors pop in, as if in a rush, demolishing inter-space, hovering overhead , prompting from beneath, fully alive and extremely threatening. Birds, mice, trees, flowers are ignited by their own secretive Spirits. In everyday experience, a pivotal change of lifestyle, requires a personal spiritual, mental and emotional transformation. Renewal cannot be accomplished, if old patterns persist. The Book of Tolerance is a textual and pictorial extension of The Book of Inter-religious Peace, ... more The Book of Tolerance is a textual and pictorial extension of The Book of Inter-religious Peace, published by The Center of Inter-religious Peace in 2013, available on Amazon and Kindle. The pictorial series and text of The Book of Inter-religious Peace wish to draw an invisible chain, uniting some of the major religions, as if they were inseparable links. This chain, though, can be comprehended and experienced only by viewers who have achieved an ex-territorial state of mind, soul, and spirit, overcoming the illusion of owning the ultimate, absolute, and exclusive truth. We have chosen religious peripheral orientations based on universal human psychological and spiritual traits, rather than paradoxically dealing with the Nature of The Divine, which by essence is ineffable.

In this book, modernism is perceived not as a style dependent on time and space but as an essential system of values connected to a subjective view of the world.
This book examines the meaning of the artist's realism, the reflection of the artist's individuality in his work, from the point of view of both content and form, as well as Caravaggio's religious approach, which is interpreted as an existentialist protest.
The reader is exposed to perceive Caravaggio as an artist rebelling against his times' conventions, while also opening up to a focused, concise comprehension of modernism.
The book and its unique, original thesis are based on Kedar's MA dissertation, available for the first time in English, with a new editor's foreword.

A head that is a symbol of the cosmos, the unity of body and soul. A defeated, decapitated head. The head as the beginning, the source, a leader, head to the lions and head to the jackals. In this book modernism is not treated as dependent on certain time/space criteria, but rather as a psychological array related to a subjective world-view. The book examines the meaning of "reality," the reflection of the artist's personality in his work, both in content and form, as well as Caravaggio's religious concepts which are interpreted as an existentialist counter-mining.
This book opens upon its readers a window through which Caravaggio is seen as an artist rebelling against conventions of his time, and at the same time attempts at re-reading Modernism in a focused and concise way.

The object viewed necessarily becomes a field for the study of life. When the object is man, it lays itself bare in depth to the artist’s gaze: face and body, expression and position, external mood and internal, covert motivation. Stativity or activity, vision and dream, anxiety and illusion likewise all become part and parcel of its appearance. Unconscious fears too, premonitions of ageing and erosion, take on a physical expression. The individual displays in his very figure his joys and hurts, and on occasion his suppressed passions and fear of death. Meyers perceives the individual, stripping him of his external visage, and penetrating into the depths of his essence. Anonymous types thus become archetypes, man in pain or in pleasure, graced with universality.

Each believer builds his/her own spiritual bridge to the Divine, rather than follow a strict religious canon that applies to a particular corpus of believers. Paradoxically, as the metaphysical trends are forcefully linked to the basic psychological archetypes of the human, they tend to be more universal than the religious dogmas. Instead of the emphasis on knowledge and fulfillment of commandments and prohibitions, metaphysical trends enhance the understanding and practice of Compassion and Love toward all creatures alike.

Sculpture is a trial, essaying to break through the barriers of unperceiving the self. It is reasonable; therefore, that man should represent his gods in imitation of his own traits or of any other familiar aspect of his life. Dealing with the known reduces the fright of the transcendental and eases the act of worship.

Apparently, the act of observation is an easy and natural phenomenon, particularly for a creature that has eyes to see. Nevertheless, one of the most essential philosophical questions is if we, in fact, see what seems to us that we are seeing.
One of the Zen Buddhist enigmas accounts for three stages within the ability of observation:
1. To see mountains as mountains.
2. To stop seeing mountains as mountains.
3. To acquire the ability to see mountains as mountains.

These are to be applied by the community of believers, belonging to a given cultural context, within time and space.

It has an interdisciplinary character combining Zen-inspired works of art and text. The artistic component includes works of art by 67 Israeli artists including the author.
Contrary to conventional books - the author does not write about the artists, rather, the artists are the ones who write about themselves and their works. The reader can look at the work of art and simultaneously read what the artists themselves think about life, art and the process o f creativity. The reader is thus introduced to art directly, without having to go through the art historian or the critic. This direct introduction to art is a unique experience, for everyone of us sees life and conceives of a rt differently, and consequently our interpretations are tinted by personal idiosyncrasies.
